Kuranda Scenic Railway is the original scenic rail journey to Kuranda. This spectacular experience travels over bridges and through tunnels hand-made by North Queensland's pioneers over 100 years ago. We were a mite disappointed that there was no steam engine, however it was fascinating that the carriages were hauled up by 2 big diesel engines. We travelled in 'Heritage class' on the first train of the day, enjoying the scenery and the very informative commentary along the way. We arrived early enough at the Station to spend time in... Great dialogue on the history of this railway & train which was developed blood sweat & tears for use during the second world war. Very comfortable, great views, easy to take fab photos & friendly staff.

We loved this train ride to Kuranda. It was very exciting for our grandchildren and a relaxing day for the adults.

We traveled to Kuranda on the scenic railway from Cairns and loved every minute from the flat suburbs through to the rainforest scenery and the waterfalls, including the brief stop at Barron's falls station for a breathtaking view. The train was comfortable, fresh water was available in each carriage and the commentary was interesting, although it was not clearly audible... More

Loved the train journey with a detailed description of where we were going and what we were seeing. The markets at the top of the rainforest were good with lots of variety. Thoroughly enjoyed the view from the cable car on the way back down with plenty of stop offs to take in the attractions.

The scenic rail was a tad disappointing but the skyrail was really good. There wasn't anything much in the village but I liked the river cruise as it is quite informative and we even got to feed river fish and Terrapins with bread

We were lucky enough to travel on the scenic railway when the Barron Falls were flowing.......the trip takes approx. 1 1/2 hrs and its 37kms long. The train does stop for beautiful views of the falls.

An absolutely historical ride. A must for every visit whether you go by train or combine the trip with the Skyrail. To see the beautiful Barron Falls is a great film shot, with the train snaking around the rail line.

This train was fantastic! The ride down was fantastic and there was audio giving historical info as we went along. There were some great photo opportunities and views from the car. The stations were lovely, try to explore them for 10 mins before and after your ride! I travelled with my fiancé, and would loved to have been in a... More
