Kuranda Scenic Railway is the original scenic rail journey to Kuranda. Wasn't too sure what we were in for, wondered how exciting can a train ride be? But from being picked up from skyrail by bus to the station and the proceeding train ride, it was a highlight of our holiday. We did the return by skyrail which was also great fun. All the staff on all these attractions, including the... More

We went on this for the first time and went Gold Class. The staff were absolutely wonderful and a credit to the organisation.

Not the best historic rail journey I've ever been on but it's still a nice thing to do whilst in Cairns. I would take the journey in the morning and definitely take your time in getting the skyrail back, ensuring you stop at all the stops.

We went up on the railway and back on the skyrail. Absolutely beautiful, and yet different, views on both. Railway was informative and nostalgic looking at photos within the train and reading the tour booklet about the history. I'd suggest trying to get in either the first couple of last couple of carriages as when it goes around 2 bends... More

Wonderful journey over numerous bridges and through several tunnels with historical commentary, also available via a free Queensland Rail app from iTunes. Fantastic staff! Interesting tour of the Kuranda Signal Cabin. Great photo opportunities also of Kuranda Station, the jungle train, mountain vistas and waterfalls. Kuranda Station Cafe has a variety of delicious snacks, al fresco dining and a great... More

Fun to ride the train through the mountains of the rain forest while listening to an audio detailing the construction and uses of it through the decades. The end of the line is Kuranda with fun shops, some great restaurants and attractions. Be on time!

Complete waste of money. The wheels on this train need some serious greasing. Everyone in my car had their fingers in their ears for 3/4 the trip. The noise from the train wheels is painful. We couldn't gear the taped tour guide because of the screeching wheels. We all got off the train thankful the ride was over and with... More

Visiting the Village of Kuranda via the Skyrail & descending via the historic train makes for a fabulous day. The railway was built in the late 1800's and includes some 15 tunnels, dozens of bridges, glorious views of the Barron River Valley and beautiful waterfalls. Heritage class service provides seating in the restored original carriages. The ride will take 2... More

I had a great time on this trip. I booked directly through the KSR website. I had no trouble getting to the train station as it is in the centre of Cairns. The seats were padded and more comfortable than expected. The views were gorgeous, especially the waterfalls. Kuranda itself is only a small place and I found 3 hours... More
