Kuranda Scenic Railway is the original scenic rail journey to Kuranda. This spectacular experience travels over bridges and through tunnels hand-made by North Queensland's pioneers over 100 years ago. Traversing the World Heritage listed rainforest of the Barron Gorge National Park, this is one of the world's great railway journeys.

Relaxing ride with spectacular views. Kuranda is great place for old hippies and they understand the concept of vegetarian food, a bit of a rarity in the Cairns area.

Starting off - we did the whole shebang! Gold class trip up the hill to Kuranda, over the usual base service. A good recommendation if you are combining with the cable car is to go up using the train, as you are not tied to waiting for a train if you have seen and done what you want up top,... More

We rode the train up to Kuranda, the ride was about 90 minutes. We had some great views of Barron falls, other waterfalls and of the ocean. There was very good commentary on the train outlining the history of the building of the Kuranda train and system. The seats are rows of bench style seats which accomadates 4 per bench,... More

Had a wonderful time. Beautiful in Kuranda. Rented canoes in Kuranda and paddled through the jungle rainforest. Highly recommend this trip.

Going by train from Cairnes to Kuranda is mostly like going back to the 1800s. The locomotives and the wagons are all from the end of the 1800s but are all repaired and kept up to date. The about 30 km long trip is impressing: There are lots of bridges and tunnels and a amazing view of the the beautiful... More

Even the most jaded traveller will find something of interest in this trip: an old, authentically-restored steam train on a rainforest track, stopping at magnificent vistas and waterfalls. Take the devonshire tea option if you can afford it. The station at the top is also lovingly restored, and sells good souvenirs for those hard-to-buy-for older men on your gift list.

Travel up on the SkyRide and back rail. Beautiful Victorian station, amazing scenery and great Rainforest to travel through. Village at the top is nothing to wright home about. But the hotel is an ex US Field Hospital.

A 90 minute scenic trip up the mountain to Kuranda Village. The train itself is comfortable, the views on the way up are breathtaking and the staff on board were great.

Went up to Kuranda on the train and got SkyRail back down. We paid the extra to have the Golden service on the train and for a Diamond View gondola coming back down both well worth it; comfortable seat, food and drink served on the train. The hostess in the Gold Service carriage was great fun and very informative, which... More

We went up to Kuranda on the train and back on the skyrail. The train ride wound around bends and through tunnels, past waterfalls and magical scenery. We really enjoyed our trip on the train
