Owner description: Kuranda Scenic Railway is the original scenic rail journey to Kuranda. This spectacular experience travels over bridges and through tunnels hand-made by North Queensland's pioneers over 100 years ago. Traversing the World Heritage listed rainforest of the Barron Gorge National Park, this is one of the world's great railway journeys.

We went up on the train and down by the skyrail. On the train you get commentary about the history of the railway, you stop for a photo opportunity and they give you cold towels along the way. Kuranda is a quaint little town with plenty of food places, markets and things to do.the trip back down was great in... More

A good 2 hour journey of a Train which takes you thro' the Jungle of Kuranda village. This is a historic open train which takes you near to lot of waterfalls.

I loved this trip up to Kuranda on the train. I was worried that it might have been too long, and perhaps a little boring but it was not. There is commentary over the PA as you are going through all the different towns and stations, with lots of history and interesting facts given. Excellent stop on the way for... More

We went up b Cable Car and back down from the Rail. It is a nice journey with a stop at a lookout at Barron Falls (this lookout can be accessed by car). There are some nice bridges and commentary along the way. The main problem was that it is not air conditioned so on a hot day can be... More

We went up with the Skyrail, relaxing, nice views of the rainforest, but nothing outstanding if you are used to go skiing and ride 'cable cars'. Kuranda as a village is really nice with some hippies stil around and lots of little tourist shops! Return with the Scenic railway, a very slow train full of interesting history and stories, impressive... More

We did both the sky rail and the train. It was very hot day in Cairns and the train is an old timber train with no Air Con it dose have a water fountain but you will get hot water. The seatin is not very good and you can not see much from the train unless you sit right at... More

It was an alright activity. But the weather was so hot and humid and as the carriage did not have AC we all were sweaty and crancky after 15 minutes and we had around 40 minutes to go. Even if the train is antique and they like to keep it that way, it would be better if the AC is... More

We had a great day visiting Kuranda. We went up on the Scenic Railway which was very informative and interesting. The train was comfortable, although quite hot, we were offered refreshing towels towards the end. The stop at Barron Falls was quite spectacular and photo suggestions were offered through the trip so we wouldn't this's anything. Great trip, thank you.
