We were "stuck" in Cairns secondary to a cyclone (Nathan) driving us off our dive boat and back to shore in Cairns. We were disappointed and had no plans for five days (should have been on the boat). BUT, the cyclone went north of Cairns after all (of course) so we decided to poke around and went to Cairns Botanic... More

The tropical sights and aromas greet you as you walk in from the road. The light lunch was great even though the fans were not working that day and the service quick and efficient. The many and varied types of tropical plants on show were wonderful to see and admire when we don't live in the tropics.

Nice lawns, stone paths, a couple nice unpaved paths, well-marked species. Some paths were blocked for construction when I visited but there was a sign at the entrance mapping out which ones they were.

A peaceful and shady place to linger, away from 30 C heat, and a wonderful introduction to the tropical environment. Robin snoozes among the cycads, while I wander among exotic pitcher plants and orchids, giant palmate leaves, flamboyant lilies, fleshy bromeliads and giant trees. Just across the road from the cultivated gardens is wild, native forest where boardwalks lead through... More

Beautiful tropical gardens, lovely and peaceful to walk around. Not very big so doesn't take too long to walk through the gardens. A restaurant there but coffees aren't that great! Worth visiting.

Get away from the city/people and lose yourself amongst all the tropical plants. Enjoy a spot of lunch/drinks in one of the coffee shops or just explore. Worth a trip...

The Botanic Gardens in Cairns are really worth a visit. There are different varieties of tropical plants from Cairns and all around the world. It is very well maintained and the plants and trees are all sign posted. Great pathways to follow with little hidden areas and some nice open grassed places as well. Has a very nice Café that...
