Take some mosquito spray. A large area is under construction and fenced off for at least the next few months.

Lots of colour and big tropical leaves to be seen in these gardens - certainly a must-see if you haven't seen a lot of tropical flora.

The gardens are a nice way to spend a few hours with the kids looking at a large variety of plants and trees. Some areas were undergoing work but this is to be expected. A good way to get an intro to tropical plants and things you might find in the rainforest. A walk along the boardwalks through the rainforest/wetlands... More

This was a beautiful way to spend a "down-day" in Cairns. It helped us get over our jet-lag. The gardens are wonderfully presented, and it was located such that we could walk there from our apartment. And who knew you could find anything in Australia that's free????

Plenty of walking paths, though some were closed for area upgrades when we went. There is a stunning array of plants - plenty to keep the kids interested as well as spotting birds, water dragons, dragonflies and butterflies. Lovely lakes and plants. cool and calm. Walked there in the morning before the heat, got a local bus back. Easy to get to and informative

What a wonderful place to visit in Cairns to see all the local plants in one location. Easy to walk around. Lovely café. Only drawback was a few mozzies that got my wife so take your Aerogard

The Botanic gardens are set amongst a beautiful part of Cairns with gorgeous gardenso, walks & restaurants. The Botanical gardens are very interesting & have a wonderful tropical collection. It is peaceful restful place especially if the fast pace & stress of travelling is weighing upon you.
