That's a pretty large claim but once you arrive at the Botanical Gardens you'll have to agree. It is heart stoppingly beautiful. No matter where you look there are stunning examples of every tropical plant you've ever seen in a book. plus butterflies. birds. reptiles. ungroomed forest explored by raised pathways. In a way i was relieved that the orchid... More

Only a 40 minute walk from the CBD but it makes you feel like you are in the middle of a jungle. Plenty of various trees, flowers and shrubs. Very diverse Botanic Gardens with a very interesting main botanical garden, rainforest Boardwalk anf freshwater and saltwater lakes. It was a pity the orchid and fern house were closed due to the current work. Good cafe and a good place to chill out

It's free, it's near town and it's a nice place to be. It will be a lot better when current wok has finished but you can"t have progress without inconvenience. Try the cafe, good food, good service, reasonable price

The Botanical Garden is a magical place! The vegetation is breath taking and the layout is fantastic. The kids love it and so did I. A definite YES for a family outing! But bring mosquito repellent!!!

I have visited the Botanical Gardens since I was a child and every year we go back when in Cairns as it is a magical haven, with an extensive array of tropical and rare plants, fern and orchid houses, and beautiful walking paths. In September/October there are wonderful Jade and Flame vines in flower. It is worth just stopping to... More

We spent an afternoon there and would have liked the time to return. the walks were shady and interesting, the cafe good for a cool drink and loved the reservoir art exhibitions. Unfortunately we were too late for the education centre, it closed at 4pm.

Peace, tranquility and gorgeous gardens. Well maintained indeed. Plants like I've never seen before. Spectacular. Renovations will be fantastic when finished. Great visitor attraction.
