I really liked this gallery. The exhibits are contemporary/cutting edge and the historical building (an old courthouse) is beautifully adapted & restored.

Every time I travel to Cairns I ensure I visit this lovely, well appointed gallery. It is a real gem and they have reciprocal agreements with interstate galleries. Great for all ages - it has a lift and lots of places to sit to view the artwork. The exhibitions are well curated and they have an excellent collection of Australian... More

I liked this gallery but did not fall in love with it. After paying my $5 to go for a look and trying to navigate my way round with little signage, I walked away wondering why I bothered. No photography did not make me happy but I wandered aimlessly for a while. I have been to the galleries in places... More

Very few of the galleries were open, as exhibitions were being changed. There was no signage to indicate this. After climbing 3 floors with an injured foot in an attempt to see something, got there only to find the gallery space closed and the lift was out of order. Not good enough. This is museum/gallery management 1A.

We like to check out museum and gallery shops when we travel and this one is a winner. A very nicely chosen selection. Interesting items - highlighting local talent, keeping an Aussie style without being too obvious about it. A variety of items from large to small - easy to pack! It was nice to find a place that wasn't... More

Went to the exhibition "Big Boys Toys" thinking that it was a car exhibition but realised it was an exhibition on cars made out of moulded plastic. Also enjoyed another exhibition on dogs but that was about it for the $5 entry fee. Can't take photos inside so I'm wondering how come the album for this attraction has so many... More

We randomly stopped by here and thought it was a really cute museum that features various types of modern art. It's a good place to stop by if you have some time to see more of cairns other than just the boardwalk.

It's small and in a historic building. The building itself is interesting. The gift shop is a bit expensive but the items are interesting. The exhibits are often emerging local artists (on the top floor), Australian 'big names' and touring exhibitions. Check for the free admissions days.

Good exhibition of artists with a connection to Cairns. Stephen Bowers: Beyond Bravura Jam Factory, and Searching for Hells Gate: Percy Trezise, Goobalathaldin Dick Roughsey and Ray Crooke, were particularly outstanding

A lovely gallery set in an old building - we enjoyed the local pottery exhibition as well as a travelling exhibition and two other excellent ones. An air-conditioned oasis well worth a visit
