Really the ultimate Outback Adventure. Our drivers, Will & Lee, thankyou for giving us such a wonderful time. Our journey took us to the Lime Caves at Chilligoe, Lava Tubes near Mt Surprise and Cobbold Gorge. Accommodation and meals in outback towns good. Cobbold Gorge Resort like an 'Oasis' -A1. highly recommend and would have liked an extra day there.... More

We did the trip without the off train tours. The drivers were a delight, we loved the whole trip. My husband and I had done the trip 6 years ago with the off train tours, but this time we did it with a friend without the off train trips. Changes have been made as far as some stops go but... More

Our trip from Cairns to Forsayth and return over 5 days was a real explorer experience with great interaction between passengers and crew. The accommodation and side trips gave a good idea of what went on in the late 1800s. To have a train stop to examine things of interest along the way, to boil the billy ,have scenery explained,... Hi there Pat O, Thanks for the lovely review. Yes, it may surprise people how personalised we can make the train service when we are the only train on the line! Random stops and backing up to revisit something is part of the service :) Thanks again, we hope to see you again sometime... The Savannahlander. More

My six year old grandson and I did this journey - our first time away with just the two of us. It was perfect - enough other interests for him to roam, sit next to the drivers, and really see something of the country. There was enough adventure on each of our four days to keep us both interested and... More

Hi there Coasting10, Thanks for the great review - I agree that it's an excellent trip for young people. In fact I brought my 4 year old along last year and he had a ball. It's great that you both had a good time, hopefully we will see you again sometime! Thanks, The Savannahlander More

Thanks to everyone at Savannahlander for such a fantastic day. We caught the train from Cairns to Almaden with our bikes to set off on an adventure. The guys were very careful loading our bikes, gave hilarious yet very informative commentary during the trip, were very friendly & looked after the passengers very well!! The trip itself was gorgeous &... More

Hi there Lesley F, Thanks for the great review - did you know that some of the staff here are super keen cyclists as well? Its not unusual for one of our drivers to take a bike and cycle from Almaden to Chillagoe ! Another great cycle is from Einasleigh to Forsayth if you are ever looking for a great... More

We enjoyed our time on the Savannahlander. The side tours to the Chillagoe Caves, the Undurra Lava Tubes and the Cobald Gorge were excellent and the accommodation at these outback features was excellent.

My wife and I had our first taste of the Savannahlander about five years ago when we took the two day trip out of Cairns to Almaden so we thought we would do the "full monty" the next time and last August we took the six day Savannahlander and Gulflander trip. What a fabulous outback experience this was. A full... More

Quite simply, beautiful and unique. The trip on the train itself was worth going for, but the scenery, accomodations, side trips, and driver commentary were great also. Highly recommended for train enthusiasts, and/or for anyone wanting to see and experience the real Australia without the crowds. Going to places you cant get to any other way, meeting real Aussies, and... More
