Unfortunately we chose a day which was cold and very windy, the sea was extremely choppy and not very pleasant. The island was not very nice as being cold and windy we could not sit and enjoy sunshine on the sand and because of the rough seas snorkelling was almost impossible and one had to go quite far out yo... this is by far my favourite reef to visit. it has an array of fish species and corals and you can swim straight off the beach. massive trevallies and trout and they are all very tame so you can get very close which is great for photography.

The Turtles swam by without a care in the world and the fish life seemed to be attracted to us with a curiosity of their own. The Island itself is a good way to see birds in a natural habitat.... Fantastic place to come visit. Even if you have never snorkelled before, you must do this. The fish are amazing and we were lucky to see a turtle close up.

If you want to snorkel or dive on the reef for a day its worth the trip here. Plenty of sights to see under the water. If you get a chance to go on the semi submersible do it.

This was our first day expedition from Cairns in June '08. We had a huge catamaran take us an hour or more out to the reef where we got suited up for some lazy snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef. Those with dive qualifications donned wet suits and tanks for a more adventurous experience, but those of us snorkelling didn't... More

As non swimmers but keen bird watchers we loved this experience. To see the Noddies so close was a great experience.
