We did this trip in a day, and were quite rushed. We did the wildlife cruise on Lake Barrine, stopped by the Curtain Fig, the platypus lakes, waterfalls, then finished off at Paronella Park. It was a great day out, but long!

This is a must see. If you want to see the Mungalli Falls you need to go through the cafeteria and walk across the foot bridge, turn right, walk 15 mins down the road to see it. It was magnificent.

From Atherton to South Johnstone, we drove through a lot of little townships like Kairi, Tinaroo, Malanda, Tarzali, Millaa Millaa and East Palmerston. Saw many sugar cane and banana farms including a dairy and cheese farm. Passed some tea farms, winery signs and various roadside fruit/vegetable stalls including organic produce, strawberries and potatoes. The landscape was very green and lush... More

So much to see and so little time. Toured the waterfall circuit including swimming, visited curtain fig and cathedral fig and the beautiful and poignant Avenue of Honour near Yungaburra. Lake Barrine and Eacham and the most delicious cheese platter at Mungalli Dairy...plenty for lunch. Spent a separate day at the Spanish Castle (Paranella Park) also fantastic.

This was the best day tour I have been on for a long time. Steve our tour guide was the most informative person. When we booked with Northern Experience Eco Tours my thought was a bit expensive but trust me it is worth every cent, take option A you cant go wrong.

It use to be a quaint country market with a few souvenir stalls. It is now almost 100% souvenir stalls with a few cheap eateries. More tourist trap than market. oddly enough it seems to shut up shop entirely at 2:45 pm on a Saturday. A nice drive up from the coast, but not much to attract the mature, no... More

No visit to Cairns would be worth it without visiting some of the many waterfalls. My favourite is The falls at Paranella Park and everything about the place really. A must do.

I can highly recommend a visit to the Castle. The history as told to us by an excellent tour guide, plus the surrounds are one not to be missed.

This was a definite highlight of our time in FNQ. We did both the day and evening tours and saw such different aspects of the park. Our teens were enchanted by the story and the dream. Definitely a location to add to your itinerary.
