You will discover all types of activities going on in the Tablelands area. Especially the waterfalls on the Loop Road. Very interesting to see the types of agriculture and cropping in this area.

It was a wonderful independent day trip by car. I highly recommend to rent a car to drive there. We drove from Cairns. We turned right at the intersection in Gordonvale, drove a lot of switch backs (you will feel sick) up to the top, stopped at Lake Barrine (toilet! restaurant and a small boat) crossed Yungaburra (a small deli,... Trip was boring. Our day tour spent too long making toilet stops and morning tea and afternoon tea as well as lunch stops which ate into the day. We also wasted time being taken to a dairy shop when we thought we were on a sightseeing tour. The whole afternoon was spent at the Spanish Castle- not great! Much better... More

Ignore any tours. Rent a car and go for the day and make your own trip. Many of the places tours hit are free entry anyway (Milla Milla, Curtain Fig, Lake Eachem, etc.). This way you can plan your own itinerary and spend as long as you like at each location.

brilliant day ,probably our most enjoyable tour from Cairns. Paronella Park must have been a most impressive place when first built. And Megan our guide took us back in time with her educational story of the family and there building of this Castle. All the best to Mark & Judy for dreams of preservation of one of Australia's truly heritage... More

Don't get me wrong, Paronella Park is one of the prettiest places on the planet no doubt but $42 per person to go in is pretty rich. Ruins can actually be quite depressing but considering these ones were erected less than 100 years ago and are only ruins because Jose basically had no idea what he was doing and royally... More

The Spanish castle or Paronella Park has to be seen to be believed, what an incredible man to have made such a place, and hats off to the owners who are now putting it all back together again, keep up the good work. The millaa Millaa falls are another must do, as well as Mossman Gorge.

Make sure you allocate a full day when heading out. The scenery is beautiful and you can watch the train slowly passing by. Stunning landscape and if you drive yourself take the occasional turn, so much to discover...
