I happened upon this by accident but was very happy I did so. It is a great place to buy organic and locally grown vegetables and tropical fruit to try - mangosteens are amazing. Also vendors selling jewelry and other arts and crafts. Fun market to check out.

Brilliant fresh produce, tastes much better than supermarket fruit and vedgie. Reasonable price!! Great for backpackers and local people!

I love the smell of the markets!! Everything from fresh fruit and veg to fresh pasta and bread is sold here. If you're after organic meat then Jervoise Organic is for you. They have beef, chicken, pork, game/specialty (vac-packed and frozen) and team are friendly. Ahhh....this is the life!

This is a true farmers market for the locals. A huge variety of fresh tropical fruits and vegetables on offer at a sensible price. Great coffee and snacks available. Also a section for clothes & jewellery which is probably of better quality and more sensibly priced than the tourist outlets.

We visited Rustys market and we enjoyed the lovely produce and friendly service however one word of warning, avoid the tarot reading shop. We stumbled upon it and thought it would be a good experience, one of the rudest people I have ever met was there to greet me. AVOID!

Great markets in the tropics with many types of fresh fruit and vegetables not seen in the southern cities. The stall holders are willing to discuss how to prepare the food and which spices should be used and introduce you to others freshly picked that morning. A morning mixing with the friendly locals wandering through the stalls being tempted by... More

When in Cairns I love to include a trip to Rustys Market. The fresh fruit and vegetables are excellent quality and price. If you are after Sri Lankan/Indian spices, condiments & more be sure to visit Sunils ( a shop on the western entrance). The guy who runs it informative & very helpful Great find for us as each visit... More

Great place, buzzing with life & swarming with people.Less common tropical fruit like Durian, dragon fruit etc as well as all the usual. Prices go way down near closing time - avocado 50c each, amazing, quite firm. Footpath cafes for chilling out and people watching between shopping. Arts/crafts etc as well as fruit & veg.
