Great markets in the tropics with many types of fresh fruit and vegetables not seen in the southern cities. The stall holders are willing to discuss how to prepare the food and which spices should be used and introduce you to others freshly picked that morning. A morning mixing with the friendly locals wandering through the stalls being tempted by... More

When in Cairns I love to include a trip to Rustys Market. The fresh fruit and vegetables are excellent quality and price. If you are after Sri Lankan/Indian spices, condiments & more be sure to visit Sunils ( a shop on the western entrance). The guy who runs it informative & very helpful Great find for us as each visit... More

Great place, buzzing with life & swarming with people.Less common tropical fruit like Durian, dragon fruit etc as well as all the usual. Prices go way down near closing time - avocado 50c each, amazing, quite firm. Footpath cafes for chilling out and people watching between shopping. Arts/crafts etc as well as fruit & veg.

Rusty's is only open fri, sat,sun but make sure you get there for at least one of those days....and don't eat before you go. The array and choice of fruit, fish, veg is bewildering. The food stalls like-wise, with all dishes freshly prepared. The fresh, chilled coconut juice will cool you down on the hottest of days or a top... More

Visited here on Sunday 2 Nov 2014 to stock up on our Fruit & Veg. As has already been said the price of all the fruit and veg is significantly cheaper than the supermarkets but the quality is better. Fresh produce from the farms and on many of the stalls you can Try Before You Buy. This certainly helped us... More

This market had been on our radar for quite a while since we planned our trip to Cairns. We were not disappointed, the choice of fruit and veg was amazing. Loads cheaper than supermarkets, bananas were $1.99 per kilo compared with $7.99 in supermarkets. We bought lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, advocardos, bananas, pears and had the chance to taste loads of... More

This is a brilliant market to visit if you are staying in Cairns and self catering. Huge variety of fruit and veg and amazingly cheap prices. The Cheese shop in the Market is exceptional. Every type of cheese, meat, sausages, etc. that you can imagine. Well worth a visit

Only open on fri, sat, sun but great fresh food. Lots of jewellery of pearls, shells, stones for very good prices. Also has clothing. Well patronised by locals as well as visitors. Cheaper prices than Port Douglas Markets. You will not be disappointed.
