I had a few hours to spare before flying out if Cairns and happened to fund these markets... I picked up some sarongs and trinkets for friends but if I was staying in apartments I would stock up here rather than a supermarket. The variety of tropical fruit and array of tomato varieties was fantastic. If you enjoy Thai or... More

I had a quick visit to this market before flying back to Alice Springs, how great is that I found a stall selling trendy sunglasses that are made of bamboo - so special plus it is very affordable ....only $45 a pair. Some of the frames can be changed to prescription lens as well. Cameron is a very nice person... More

Excellent place for fresh vegetables. Great juices and Asian food. Opens at 5 am and closes early afternoon. So get their early. Not a bad location for lunch and reasonably priced.

Spent a good hour or so just wandering in the markets - and stocked up on some delicious local fruit and veg to enjoy back at the apartment. Fresh and fabulous foods (some I've never seen before), excellent prices, and a bustling atmosphere too. There's also a bunch of cheap clothing and jewellery outlets here - not really my thing... It's great to have so many stalls under one roof, selling fruits, vegetables, coffee, honey, art and craft, etc! Prices for fruits are roughly half that of supermarkets and you could get really fresh produce here. Some stalls offer free sampling too. There is also a Thai food stall which seemed really popular with locals and students. Tip There is... More

We came to Cairns and did self catering for 10 Days. Rusty's Markets were excellent for the variety of fresh fruit. The other bonus for us were the food stalls where you could purchase takeaway meals - Thai place near CoffeeWorks stall was our favourite.

We like to buy the fruit from the fruit stand (especially try the fresh coconut water). They are fresh and local. You can also find some souvenir in this market. Good place to buy fruit beside Woolworth.
