If you intend to eat fresh goodies while in Cairns don't miss out on a visit to Rusty's markets. The produce will leave you salivating. The fresh flowers are great also. Apparently Sunday after 12 is a great time to shop (we missed that but still amazing).

Quite a good market with loads of local produce. Exotic fruits and stall holders willing to tell you what they have to sell and help you identify produce.

Funny how the simplest things can enhance your holiday. Look for the outside coconut stalls in Sheridan street. The first is very entertaining watching coconuts being opened `Survivor' style and delivered to customers with a straw in for drinking. The second was serving shaved coconut in a half shell with honey. Yummy and only $2.

Rusty's offers a great atmosphere and is well structured. There is plenty of choice for self-caterers, but also cooked food for breakfast or lunch and accessories. It was great to see local food, try food with all natural ingredients or just enjoy a fresh juice. People at the stalls are friendly and smiling. The experience was much better than Sydney's... More

Spent a great Sunday morning browsing the markets. So many fresh produce, hot food, clothing and jewellery stalls. Bought some lovely tropical fruit at such a low price.

These are pretty much a fruit and vege market. If you expect more than that you will be disappointed. Having said that the quality, range and price for the produce is excellent and it is well worth a visit to stock up if you are self catering. Also worth visiting the stalls selling cooked food - had the best port... More

Still a tick off list item when visiting Cairns but don't expect something large with lots of stalls & goods to browse. 90% is fruit & veg, a few coffee / snack shops (nice Hare Krishna stall with beautiful pastries, pies) only a small few stalls offering goods but every 2nd stall of a non food item is of the... Fruit and vegetables were fresh, cheap and tropical. Bus transport to and from Trinity Beach was easy.

if youve been to any good market such as Adelaide central market in south australia you will be extremely disapointed with rustys. a few beads, a bit of seafood and cheese, lots of fruit and veg but little else. where was the meat, the coffee, the deli, local produce??????? we had high hopes but left after about 10 minutes.
