Swim and see.

Good break from the warmth of Cairnes. Unique places to see. At the curtain fig tree we even saw a tree kangaroo. Area has volcano lakes to swim in.

So many wonderful things to do - there's the gem cave place, the freshwater lakes, lookouts, the chocolate and cheese factory... had a great time and would highly recommend visiting if you want to get away from the rat race and just kick back to nature.

Could easily have spent more time at the tablelands. There are lakes to swim in, waterfalls to view, ice cream and dairy factories, chocolate and coffee farms and a much needed refreshing break from the heat and humidity of Cairns.

My friends and I had an extra day to spend in Cairns and were looking for something to do - our hostel recommended that we could rent a car and drive through the Atherton Tablelands - what a treat! The area was very easy to navigate with just a map and depending on how often / long you stop for,... More

We really liked this area. We had three days in Cairns and used one day for Daintree Rainforest, one for Great Barrier Reef, and one for this. Many reviews have said Daintree is better than this area - I disagree, but I also think it depends upon where one is coming from. If one is used to spending time in... More

Lots of lakes and waterfalls to go to. The Josephine and Millaa Millaa falls are the highlight. Josephine has rocks you can slide down which is great fun.

We drove from Cairns to travel round the tableland. Stopped at Josephine Falls, nature's work is just breath-taking. Stopped at Paronella Castle. It was a castle made from sugar cane fibre. Beautiful piece of art with waterfall, preserved old buildings, hanging bridge and stories of the first owner. Then to the Mt Hypipamee National Park to see The Crater, a... More

Its not the real outback but you can get a outback feeling here. I lived in the tablelands for over 7 months and I had such a great time. I worked on a banana farm and on a horse farm, if you know how hot it is in Cairns you'll love the Tablelands. Because they're like a big mountain the... More

We drove to Atherton tablelands from Palmcove via cairns. We stopped at few lakes, natural swim holes waterfalls and curtain fig tree. It's an amazing scenic drive.
