We were visiting Cairns for a holiday and aware that there is no beach in Cairns Central area so we tried this as a change from the hotel pool. The Council has made a great facility here, really well maintained and extremely popular with lots of families and young people. There was a lot of sunbathing happening. It is quite... More

What a fab free place to hang out?! Toilets really clean, hot showers are free and really nice. The lagoon is lovely and we had no complaints at all. Always a life guard on duty in the day and free aqua zumba to get involved in! Result!

There was a happy vibe, with a mix of locals and tourists. The lagoon is in a beautiful location in the gardens. Best of all, it is FREE - a great plus in this super-expensive tourist city.

Great place to relax if you arrive early. You can spend hours by the pool looking to the ocean and forget about time. Family picnic is also a great idea. Later in the day it becomes the go-to place to meet people as it is consistently packed, especially during the summer. In the evening it gets even more beautiful with... More

Free to swim and enjoy the warm shallow waters of the large man-made lagoon. It's on the Esplanade near all the restaurants and night markets and beach. Lights up at night. Safe for young and old.

Went on a bit of a windy day, but such a good thing for the community. Could do with more seating, but hey it's free!

My mun and I didn't go for a swim, but enjoyed walking around the Lagoon, sitting down enjoy the sea view while consuming those tropical fruits we bought from nearby fresh market. Despite all the people doing all different things and all the happy sounds surround, some how you found peace there.
