Description: Seastar Cruises premium reef cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef...
Seastar Cruises premium reef cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef with a coral cay island. In only 1 1/4 hours the fast air-conditioned Seastar 1 can take you from Cairns to magnificent Michaelmas Cay, the largest of the local uninhabited coral cays. Cruising past Green Island, Upolu cay and Oyster reef Seastar is the first boat to arrive. After an enjoyable time here it is a short 20 minute cruise to the splendid Hastings Reef sitting on the very outer edge. This is where the corals thrive, well out from the coast away from the influence the rivers and streams, adjacent to the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. You will have 2 1/2 hours at each location. Plenty of time to go snorkeling, do a introductory dive, relax on the beach of the Island or join a tour in the Glass Bottom Boat at Hastings Reef. The day cruise on Seastar inlcudes Morning/Afternoon tea, high quality snorkel equipment, Wetsuit or Lycra suit (depending on the time of year), Glass Bottom Boat Tour, Hot & Cold Buffet Lunch, Reef Interpretation & Guided Snorkel Tours on each spot.

We mis-booked our trip - ugh. Realizing I had booked the wrong week (I really do not know how that happened) I called Seastar and they were closed so I emailed and got a very prompt response saying no worries that would be fine to change dates. No hassles at all. The weather was really wacky so again I called... More

I have done two previous reef trips , and this was the friendliest crew of the lot. They were very helpful and knowledgeable and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they were doing. We had plenty of time at both Michaelmas Cay and Hastings Reef. We were there before the crowds which gave us uninterrupted, private snorkeling at both places. We... More

Despite the cloud cover, the crew at Seastar ensured we had a fantastic day out. They were super professional, competent, well-organised and very knowledgable. Great attitude displayed by all the staff too. I recommend these guys for any visit to the Reef.

Crew are relaxed, knowledgable and know what good old fashioned customer service means. If you're going to the Great Barrier Reef there's no other cruise but Seastar! 5 stars!!!

They have a great trip advisor rating for a reason. The boat is awesome but not near as good as the guides and their service.

We chose this boat to make our reef visit as we knew there would be only 36 on board. The boat has two main seating areas when moving across the sea to the initial stop, there is plenty of space for the number on board. Once we arrived at the Cay the whole of the boat is available to sit... More

SeaStar is one of the few boats that makes day trip to the reef from Cairns. All the different boats leave around 8 the harbour, but SeaStar is the fastest and gets there 1h30 later. There is 2 spots to explore: - a first easy coral snorkelling tour around a sand bank (technically a coral cay), - a second one... More
