Description: Seastar Cruises premium reef cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef...
Seastar Cruises premium reef cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef with a coral cay island. In only 1 1/4 hours the fast air-conditioned Seastar 1 can take you from Cairns to magnificent Michaelmas Cay, the largest of the local uninhabited coral cays. Cruising past Green Island, Upolu cay and Oyster reef Seastar is the first boat to arrive. After an enjoyable time here it is a short 20 minute cruise to the splendid Hastings Reef sitting on the very outer edge. This is where the corals thrive, well out from the coast away from the influence the rivers and streams, adjacent to the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. You will have 2 1/2 hours at each location. Plenty of time to go snorkeling, do a introductory dive, relax on the beach of the Island or join a tour in the Glass Bottom Boat at Hastings Reef. The day cruise on Seastar inlcudes Morning/Afternoon tea, high quality snorkel equipment, Wetsuit or Lycra suit (depending on the time of year), Glass Bottom Boat Tour, Hot & Cold Buffet Lunch, Reef Interpretation & Guided Snorkel Tours on each spot.

I had been looking forward to snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef for years and did a lot of research when choosing the company. Seastar guarantee no more than 35 passengers - something which made the trip far more enjoyable for me as I don't like crowds. The team are enthusiastic and knowledgeable, making sure you see everything you want to... More

On the plus side they are a nice crew with good environmental awareness, the boat was fast/modern & seaworthy, the dive sites are good, the food was tasty and plentiful, the overall cost is competitive and no extra charge for wetsuits which are pretty much required in winter. On the minus side despite the small group size I didn't feel... More

Travelled with Seastar cruises, with teenage boys. Weather was not great, but from the captain and the whole crew of Seastar the day was made enjoyable from the moment we boarded. Sea sick tablets were a must on the day we went, and we're available to purchase on board. We had differing levels of confidence in the water within our... More

Travelled with Seastar cruises for a trip to the Michaelmas cay and Hastings Reef. This was a wonderful experience and enabled us to see the reef in some what adverse conditions in a very relaxed, caring and safe manner. Boat crew are to be congratulated on their presentation of information regarding the reef and for providing safe access for snorkelling... More

The great barrier reef experience is a must! The Seastar team were very helpful and amusing. Getting to the reef is a struggle due to water bumps that may leave u sick so have a pill if u need but don't get discouraged it's all worth it

Amazing Crew, fantasy reef choice. Hasting reef diving and snorkelling is the highlight of the trip, the reef in some place only one meter from the surface. Plenty of colourful fish hanging around there. Even you can't swim you must go to the water in hasting reef to experience the lifetime unforgettable view. Ship was bumpy and gets really floaty... Do this tour. You will have fun and the crew is the best! They have a license to go where others cannot and some of the other groups looked jealous! So great!
