Description: Seastar Cruises premium reef cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef...
Seastar Cruises premium reef cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef with a coral cay island. In only 1 1/4 hours the fast air-conditioned Seastar 1 can take you from Cairns to magnificent Michaelmas Cay, the largest of the local uninhabited coral cays. Cruising past Green Island, Upolu cay and Oyster reef Seastar is the first boat to arrive. After an enjoyable time here it is a short 20 minute cruise to the splendid Hastings Reef sitting on the very outer edge. This is where the corals thrive, well out from the coast away from the influence the rivers and streams, adjacent to the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. You will have 2 1/2 hours at each location. Plenty of time to go snorkeling, do a introductory dive, relax on the beach of the Island or join a tour in the Glass Bottom Boat at Hastings Reef. The day cruise on Seastar inlcudes Morning/Afternoon tea, high quality snorkel equipment, Wetsuit or Lycra suit (depending on the time of year), Glass Bottom Boat Tour, Hot & Cold Buffet Lunch, Reef Interpretation & Guided Snorkel Tours on each spot.

My second time on Seastar and another highly enjoyable Reef experience. Knowledgable and enthusiastic young crew, comfortable boat and over 3 hours of snorkelling at two fantastic reefs. Lunch was plentiful and fresh and with only a max of 35 people on the boat, it ensured an intimate and uncrowded reef experience. Well worth the money and highly recommend Seastar... More

We were lucky to have good weather, nice trip out of the reef, young enthusiastic staff, who also educate and are willing to explain. Dive options and skin diving tours plus a glass bottom boat trip. The smallness of the group is a positive factor. Definitely recommend this trip.

Awesome crew, well planned day. Caters well to all people's needs and not too many people which means the ratio of crew to passengers allows for more personalised interaction if required. The food and drinks was great too. Could not recommend highly enough.

This could possibly have been one of the greatest experiences of my life. My partner organized this snorkeling adventure for my bday and it did not disappoint. From the great food and staff to the actual snorkeling I could not fault one thing about it. They give you the chance to learn how to scuba dive and its such an... More

had a small group of 36 on board, so didn't feel crowded at any time. saw 2 groups of whales on the way to the reef, a added bonus. 2 snorkel dives both fantastic. you get a guided tour at the start of each dive where the instructor explains things and points out really interesting aspects of the coral and... We had the best day snorkelling on the reef, all the Seastar staff were happy and more than ready to help. The food was amazing and the reefs talk was great. We really cannot fault the trip at all in fact we will definately book up again next time we go to Cairns. 10/10

Superb trip. Crew were very accommodating from the moment we stepped onto the boat. It was great to be able to visit a Cay as well as a Reef on the same trip. There was the opportunity to snorkel with a guide, ride the glass bottom boat and have ample time for your own personal snorkel. Reef was vibrant. After... More

This is just something you have to do. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic about their job. You get to the reefs when no other boats are there and are given very generous time to explore. The guided snorkeling tours are great and you still get plenty of free time afterwards. We were not as impressed by the glass... More

The trip was amazing. It was nice being on a boat with only 35 passengers. While we were at the second reef another boat came out and looked like there was 150 on it. Each had its own area and no one was crowded.
