Owner description: Seastar Cruises premium reef cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef with a coral cay island. In only 1 1/4 hours the fast air-conditioned Seastar 1 can take you from Cairns to magnificent Michaelmas Cay, the largest of the local uninhabited coral cays. Cruising past Green Island, Upolu cay and Oyster reef Seastar is the first boat to arrive. After an enjoyable time here it is a short 20 minute cruise to the splendid Hastings Reef sitting on the very outer edge. This is where the corals thrive, well out from the coast away from the influence the rivers and streams, adjacent to the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. You will have 2 1/2 hours at each location. Plenty of time to go snorkeling, do a introductory dive, relax on the beach of the Island or join a tour in the Glass Bottom Boat at Hastings Reef. The day cruise on Seastar inlcudes Morning/Afternoon tea, high quality snorkel equipment, Wetsuit or Lycra suit (depending on the time of year), Glass Bottom Boat Tour, Hot & Cold Buffet Lunch, Reef Interpretation & Guided Snorkel Tours on each spot.

Look no further, these guys are fantastic!!! From the moment we got onboard the crew were superb, lots of energy and they really made you feel comfortable and in safe hands. Although the dives weren't amazing I would still say this was my most favoured day out from all the diving I've done over the years! Lunch was great, afternoon... More

Had a fantastic time out on the reef. The staff was great and lunch was delicious. Saw lots of fish and a couple of green sea turtles. I highly recommend this tour.

Great service & good weather made this snorkel the best ever for us. The Seastar crew made us very comfortable throughout the trip. My group had very young kids and a elderly couple and the crew made extra efforts to watch over them. We were the first boat at the Michaelmas Cay & Hastings Reef and therefore no overcrowding. I... You're definately spoilt for choice when looking for a reef experience. Sea Star is a little more expensive than some of the others however, it's definately worth it! We visited 2 great locations and were the first boat out at both. This is something you appreciate when you realise just how many people go on these tours. The Sea Star... More

Excellent trip to the Great Barrier Reef, got out to the reef before any other groups and had plenty of time at the reef itself. The crew knew all about the reef and where also very helpful. Lunch was also very tasty!! Highly recommend using sea star to see the reef!

We chose Seastar after a lot of research and we were not disappointed. The weather was kind to us and the crew even kinder (we were running late due to traffic and they waited for us). Snorkelling was amazing at both sites and we were lucky to spot a turtle. Food was delicious and plentiful. The best part though was... More

This tour was amazing! We were one of the first boats out in the morning so we got to snorkel in the best locations before all the other boats came out. Would definitely use Seastar cruises again.

There are a lot of choices when visiting the Great Barrier Reef from Cairns, and after research and recommendations we chose SeaStar to take us for our day trip, and am very pleased we did. We visited two sites which was great, and as first time snorkelers it was great to be able to practice of the beach from Michaelmas... More

We chose Seastar after a lot of research & agonizing. We were not disappointed! The staff was fantastic from the time they greeted us until we left. We were the first boat to get to Michaelmas Cay so had the place to ourselves for awhile. The tour they took us on around the Cay, which was optional, was very helpful.... More

I did a lot of research on reef tours before booking with Seastar. I wanted a smaller boat with fewer passengers. Seastar was perfect. The crew was friendly and helpful. We went to two excellent locations on the reef. We were the first boat at both locations. I was amazed at the number of fish we saw - it was... More
