Description: Seastar Cruises premium reef cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef...
Seastar Cruises premium reef cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef with a coral cay island. In only 1 1/4 hours the fast air-conditioned Seastar 1 can take you from Cairns to magnificent Michaelmas Cay, the largest of the local uninhabited coral cays. Cruising past Green Island, Upolu cay and Oyster reef Seastar is the first boat to arrive. After an enjoyable time here it is a short 20 minute cruise to the splendid Hastings Reef sitting on the very outer edge. This is where the corals thrive, well out from the coast away from the influence the rivers and streams, adjacent to the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. You will have 2 1/2 hours at each location. Plenty of time to go snorkeling, do a introductory dive, relax on the beach of the Island or join a tour in the Glass Bottom Boat at Hastings Reef. The day cruise on Seastar inlcudes Morning/Afternoon tea, high quality snorkel equipment, Wetsuit or Lycra suit (depending on the time of year), Glass Bottom Boat Tour, Hot & Cold Buffet Lunch, Reef Interpretation & Guided Snorkel Tours on each spot.

After reading many of the reviews of the various trip operaters doing trips to the great barrier reef we chose to go with Seaster. Boy am I glad to have made the choice. Firstly it was great that they only have 35 passengers thus there is no dealing with large crowds. Then there is their attention to service which was... More

We picked Seastar from the many operators in Cairns based on excellent Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. All staff on board were friendly, cheerful and very professional. Two locations on reef were excellent, we did the intro dive with Bridgit and she is excellent, thank you ! Great weather, lunch on board was great, overall an unforgettable experience. Would... We went on the Seastar on ANZAC day. It was perfect from go to whoa. The staff are friendly, helpful, professional and efficient. The weather was unreal. The water crystal clear like glass. Saw so many beautiful sea creatures and coral. The lunch was lovely. I highly recommend this as an outing from Cairns.

One of the best days!!! Michaelmas Cay early doors was such a good dive, Ihaka showed us the ropes and within a few minutes we were 14m deep viewing Giant Clams and all sorts of coral that was literally mind-blowing. Hastings reef was next level - underwater paradise. Best day. Awesome crew that were happy to chill and chat about... More

I can't find a single fault with this trip. The staff were amazing - funny and professional. The diving instructor Ihaka was great, very patient and a very good teacher. Both locations we visited were beautiful, especially the second one Hastings Reef. Lunch was simple but good. In the morning you get tea/coffee and muffins and in the afternoon after... More

This was a brilliant day out on a smaller boat with approximately 30 other people of all ages. We went to two reefs and had the option to go snorkelling, diving or going on a glass bottom boat to see the amazing sea life. Our youngest loved the snorkelling and our 12 year old did her first two dives. (I... More

The super-professional and friendly crew on the Seastar made sure that everyone felt safe and was looked after, with noodles & life-vests for kids and adults, and a small Zodiac ferrying people out to the best snorkeling spots or back to the boat. Both snorkeling sites were fantastic - a lot more to see than going to Green/Fitzroy Island for... More

We chose this tour as we got to go to both Michaelmas Cay and Hastings Reef. We loved both. The weather was terrible and rained a fair bit but that couldn't be helped and didn't spoil the experience. The crew were a lot of fun, Sally was especially great!

Obviously any trip to the Great Barrier Reef is going to be a great one, but I can tell you that Seastar is the way to go. With only 42 people on our boat, it is a truly personalized experience. There were all ages on board....couples, families, and people like me just traveling solo. The Seastar staff does everything possible... More

We took the Seastar day trip cruise out to Michaelmas Cay and Hastings Reef in early April 2015. The crew is very friendly and helpful. My husband wanted to snorkel, while I wanted to see the birds on Michaelmas Cay and ride the glass bottom boat once we got out there, so this excursion worked out perfectly for both of... More
