Owner description: 'Wait-a-While Rainforest Tours' specialises in small group day/night rainforest wildlife tours. It is magical to be involved in seeing a wild animal unrestricted in its natural environment in the rainforest. We often see platypus, birds, possums, tree kangaroos, insects, frogs, owls, reptiles, various invertebrates and other animals on our tours. As a lot of Australian rainforest animals are nocturnal, a night element and spotlighting is included with a knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide.

Paul was a very knowledgeable guide, and this tour is definitely worth the money. I went to Cairns with the aim to see wildlife, and this tour was exactly what I wanted. The tour group was only 4 people plus Paul. We saw wild platypus, pademelon, green ringtail possums, and the highlight for me, was a brief sighting of the... More

We did have a good night and I would love to see a photo of the Green Ringtail with the joey in the pouch! And I am sure we can do a discount for you if you do come back! More

Of the week I spent in Australia, this was my best trip by far (one of my trips included the Great Barrier reef, that's how awesome this trip was!) Paul was absolutely FANTASTIC. He is an expert on Australian flora and fauna and genuinely loves sharing the stuff he knows. I highly recommend going on any tour with Paul. The... More

We really enjoyed this evening rainforest tour. Paul our guide is very knowledgeable and went to a lot of trouble to make this trip a success. It is quite a long trip as the location is some way from Cairns but seeing Australian wildlife in their natural habitat was well worth the effort. The tour included dinner which was excellent.

We had a great time. We saw many animals including a platypus and a Victoria's Riflebird. But the best animals were the one's we saw at night as we walked down a road with Paul looking for the eyes of several marsupials in the trees. It was exciting and I got great photographs. The dinner was good and the walks... More

I went to Cairns from Brisbane on a last minute trip. The only thing I knew for sure that I wanted to do was see the reef. But I also love to see animals in their natural habitat, especially in foreign countries so upon my arrival I asked my hotel tourism person to recommend a trip where I would see... More

This is a fantastic tour that allows you to spot some of Australia's more elusive nocturnal wildlife, in its natural habitat. Paul was friendly and easy-going, as well as very informative, and the tour took us off the beaten tourist track. Obviously Paul cannot guarantee sightings - the wildlife might choose not to show up on the night, but we... More

Not sure how you can see more wildlife but apparently we were lucky seeing a tree kangeroo and platypus as soon as we pulled up. Paul really knew his stuff, but seemed a little tense and irritable at times

This was the best wildlife tour I have ever been. The guide knows exactly where to take us to spot animals and see interesting nature (views, plants). My husband and I are biologists and we were amazed by the high quality information that we received during the tour. It is an excelent opportunity to see nature, if you want to... More

Very enjoyable and relaxed tour with some differences to other tours available in Cairns: Small group, late start, less driving, more being out of the bus, fairly relaxed pace, lots of animals in the wild, no full-on, constant commentary, but nevertheless very informative, exciting spot-lighting with the element of not knowing what you might see. Paul, our guide, was good... More
