Owner description: 'Wait-a-While Rainforest Tours' specialises in small group day/night rainforest wildlife tours. It is magical to be involved in seeing a wild animal unrestricted in its natural environment in the rainforest. We often see platypus, birds, possums, tree kangaroos, insects, frogs, owls, reptiles, various invertebrates and other animals on our tours. As a lot of Australian rainforest animals are nocturnal, a night element and spotlighting is included with a knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide.

This tour was amazing! Paul is a great guide filled to the top with knowledge that he's more than willing to share. He spotted heaps of animals and plants that I would've walked straight passed if I were to do it on my own. I will never forget the nightwalk where we spotted 6(!) green ringtail possums and many other... More

We thoroughly enjoyed this trip in all ways. It was well organised, with convenient pick up from the hotel. [The group size was small - just 6 adults on the tour, so you didn't have to call on too many hotels to collect others though!]. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and was an excellent and patient host... More

This was absolutely the best tour we have EVER been on!!! We got lucky and were the only ones on the tour which allowed us to be entertained and educated personally by Paul, the owner. He was full of great stories, anecdotes, and history and we enjoyed him immensely. We started out the tour around 1:00pm with him driving us... More

We liked that this tour left Cairns mid day and went into the evening as we had arrived early that morning. Paul was an excellent and knowledgable tour guide, who is very passionate about the area, the wildlife and greenery. Saw some amazing fig trees and local animals ( luckily 3 platapus!). The night portion was something we will never... More

For a trip in the rain forest at night this is a MUST. Paul had great expertise, from green ants-platypus-possums-pythons-we saw them all, which together with the explanations about the flora and fauna made a very memorable day/night out/ Together with a good meal included as well! Good luck Paul and thanks, John/Beryl

I booked this tour for my travel companion and myself on the advice of close friends who took the tour a few years ago. They have never steered me wrong, and they certainly did not this time. Paul is a natural for this kind of tour...he has great expertise and experience, he loves (and respects) the forest and its inhabitants... More

We booked several tours while visiting the area and this one was the absolute best! Although nothing is guaranteed... We had the privilege of sighting two platypus for over a 1/2 hour! Paul was very personable and knowledgable and we enjoyed the tour immensely! A must do if your in the area!

Paul was a very knowledgeable guide, and this tour is definitely worth the money. I went to Cairns with the aim to see wildlife, and this tour was exactly what I wanted. The tour group was only 4 people plus Paul. We saw wild platypus, pademelon, green ringtail possums, and the highlight for me, was a brief sighting of the... More

We did have a good night and I would love to see a photo of the Green Ringtail with the joey in the pouch! And I am sure we can do a discount for you if you do come back! More

Of the week I spent in Australia, this was my best trip by far (one of my trips included the Great Barrier reef, that's how awesome this trip was!) Paul was absolutely FANTASTIC. He is an expert on Australian flora and fauna and genuinely loves sharing the stuff he knows. I highly recommend going on any tour with Paul. The... More

We really enjoyed this evening rainforest tour. Paul our guide is very knowledgeable and went to a lot of trouble to make this trip a success. It is quite a long trip as the location is some way from Cairns but seeing Australian wildlife in their natural habitat was well worth the effort. The tour included dinner which was excellent.
