Description: 'Wait-a-While Rainforest Tours' specialises in small group day/night...
'Wait-a-While Rainforest Tours' specialises in small group day/night rainforest wildlife tours. It is magical to be involved in seeing a wild animal unrestricted in its natural environment in the rainforest. We often see platypus, birds, possums, tree kangaroos, insects, frogs, owls, reptiles, various invertebrates and other animals on our tours. As a lot of Australian rainforest animals are nocturnal, a night element and spotlighting is included with a knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide.

This tour was one of the highlights of our Australia trip. Paul, our guide, was great, knowledgable and passionate (and funny)babout the subject and it really made the difference. The nighttime walk was a ton of fun, more so than I expected. It was like being a kid again and having that natural sense of wonder and adventure. All in... More

Our experience was simply not something that a tourist or visitor could expect to check out on his or her own. Paul is an incredibly knowledgeable guide with an uncanny knack for spotting wildlife. If you want a real and memorable experience, nothing beats this all-day trip through the rainforest replete with mammoth-sized fig trees, tree-dwelling kangaroos, the perfect spot... More

So impressed with this experience. My two friends and I visited from America and had our trace agent book this tour. Our expectations were average but were greatly exceeded by the intentionally small size of the tour groups, the knowledge of the owner/tour guide, and the well planned excursion. The tea and biscuits were a wonderful break and the dinner... More

Wonderful night with paul as our guide, equipped with a lot of knowledge and a quick pair of eyes! The tour starts at 2pm in cairns where we went looking for bats and wallabies, we even got to lick green ants (do it!!). We headed up into the atherton tablelands via a windy road to spot tree roos, platypus and... More

We had literally arrived into our hotel in Cairns and had missed most tours however working with the hotel concierge we were able to secure at the very last minute the rainforest wildlife day/night tour and it was amazing. We had the privilege of having Paul the owner as our driver/guide and he taught about the region, the history, the... More

I'm not much for tours in general, but this one was outstanding. We spent an afternoon and the first part of the evening in the Cairns Tablelands. Morning pickup at our hotel was right on time. About 10 people in our group. The van was comfortable, stopped at a decent restaurant for dinner. The best aspect was the guide, Tapio,... More

Great tour. Interesting way to see the rainforest and its inhabitants. Paul was a very informative owner/operator. His passion for the tour and its creatures was obvious. He does a great job of showing you how humans and nature co-exist in Queensland.

It was great to have an afternoon/evening trip rather than a daytime one as we knew that we would have more chance of seeing the animals active and out and about. We were very keen to see a Platypus in the wild and this was our main reason for choosing to visit the rainforest in the Atherton Tablelands (refreshingly cool)... More

It was an interesting experience to see all the animals, birds, insects, plants and find out details about them, but if I would have to do it again I will use the public map and visit them on my own. The tour is interesting if you want to find more details and stories about this area.

This afternoon/night tour fit into our schedules perfectly and offered us a unique experience of visiting the rainforest and tablelands at night. Since we were the only people who had booked the tour for that day, it was like a personal tour and we sat in the front with Paul. Beautiful drives through the tablelands, with rolling green hills and... More
