This litte museum is tucked away above MacArthur Central. I found this museum on a lunch break and really wished I had more time. I was shown through the museum by a delightful gentleman who had such wonderful knowledge of General MacArthur and the WWII activity in the Pacific. I didn't realise that this was General MacArthurs head quaters and... More

Being a Canuck I found it very interesting to see WWII from the Aussie perspective. Lots of similarities on the home front, but I learned a lot about how Aussies viewed and experienced the war. The museum has some great artifacts and informative displays, and includes MacArthur's actual office as it was in WWII. The volunteers are enthusiastic and are... More

A must visit for anyone with links to WW11 and an interest in Brisbane's role in the Pacific Campaign. I spent hours here and found the staff were extremely knowledgeable about the museum. More

A really good inclusion in a school excursion if studying Brisbane history and/or war. I always learnt something new and interesting. They have different sections and move the children through these. Some are hands on activities. Difficult to access if you are with a large school group although we managed by being dropped right at their door - it is... More

Have you ever walked past an old building & wondered about what had gone on there in the past. The Macarthur Chambers building on the corner of Edward & Queen Streets in Brisbane Australia is an example of this. Opened in 1934 as the Queensland HQ of the AMP Society it has a central location & a reinforced concrete roof.... More

Tucked away on level 8 of this building is an amazing museum to General Douglas MacArthur and the effect of World War 2 on the people of Brisbane. MacArthur's office is still there, with his desk and objects around it. There are lots of pictures of Brisbane in the early 40's and how the suburbs use to be. Children's life... More
