We visited this museum with the grand children. They loved the frigate and the ability to touch and move the guns and other moving parts. We also enjoyed all the exhibits relating to the dry dock, shipping and war effort. The family price was also affordable too.

In the museum there are many ship models engines and boats to see (very interesting), but for the kids, warship HMAS Diamantina, is the icing on the cake. They can try the guns, clime ladders, look inside the engine room and living quarters, etc.. One can also down the steps and walk in the dry dock under the ship. There... More

I've been to bigger museums of this type but not one that captures the spirit of a seafaring tradition quite like this one. The staff (all volunteers) are friendly, knowledgeable and make time to talk with you. The Diamantina is a gem and you come away with a real feel for what life must have been like on board.

I have taken my family to this attraction on numerous occasions and have found it to be a staple educational experience for our School Holidays. Within walking distance to the Southbank Precinct and hence numerous eateries and other attractions.....

In my meanderings around the Brisbane River, I came across the Museum - and was not disappointed at all! The history available was amazing, the volunteers/staff most informative, enthusiastic and friendly!

A little gem if you are keen on maritime relics and related history. The old dry dock is fascinating. HMAS Diamantina is there to be explored and is full of Australian Naval memorabilia. A great view of the river traffic and opposite bank too. Not a prissy place so kit up for comfort.

This is a lovely way to spend a day, and you could spend a whole day here. HMAS Diamantina is a well restored frigate with an interesting history, and fun to scramble around finding all the nooks and crannies. They also have Jessica Watson's boat, a famous Brisbane tug, a light-ship, a pearler, and loads of other interesting stuff all... More

A group of four of us went today to be tourists in our own city. So easy not to get round to visiting places on your back doorstep! The Maritime Museum is very easily accessible. We just caught the bus from our individual suburbs to the Cultural Centre bus station (heaps of buses go through there non-peak hour) and just... More

The Queensland Maritime Museum is one of those places that I'd always said I'd visit, but it took a while to get around to doing and I am thankful that I did. The museum is a treasure trove of historical artifacts big and small - from the frigate HMAS Diamantina to beautifully crafted model ships. Given this, it is worth... More

located at the old dry dock on the banks of the Brisbane River near South Bank. The former RAN river class frigate HMAS Diamantina & the light ship Carpentaria are in the dry dock. The collection starts with Jessica Watsons around the world yacht, a former light house, submarine torpedo & photographs of naval vessels which used the dock in... More
