Attended a function here recently. The venue is stunning. The service was great but the food took way to long to be served and it was really quite average - especially when considering the price of the tickets. Definitely not the best venue in town for a function but worth a look-see.

We went for a concert this morning at Customs House. It was a fantastic concert comprising of only wind instruments. We had a pleasant surprise after the concert. We were invited to a free guided tour of Customs House. The old gentlemen who showed us around was oozing with knowledge. It was a place where all the ships that came... More

If you are planning on any form of event at this venue, be very careful about the booking details and make certain that you are sure it is going ahead before handing over any money. We recently had to cancel a sizable event due to unforeseen family circumstances which were entirely ignored and we have lost the entire deposit of... More

So called because of the lantern shaped tops on the newel posts. The Customs House was fully restored in the '90s including a complete reconstruction of the central staircase from locally milled timbers. Craftsmen worked from original plans and designs found in the archives of the State Library to precisely replicate the original. If you appreciate a building with history,... More

My daughter and I had breakfast at the Pier then walked along the river and discovered that Queensland has amazing historic buildings! We entered the old Brisbane Customs House and were enchanted. We were perhaps lucky that a group of lady Doctors (so the sign said) were having High Tea in the grounds which possibly added to the atmosphere. The... More

My experiences at this venue have ranged from small groups at dinner, to attending functions of various sizes in a range of rooms at the venue: I am yet to attend an event or a meal where the chair was comfortable; the food delivered hot (and on some occasions not properly cooked). This is not a place where I will... More

The port of Brisbane grew quickly so in 1884 the Queensland government agreed to replace its existing Customs House at Petrie Bight, a modest single storey brick structure, with a much grander edifice. Its grand public space, The Long Room, is surmounted by a copper sheathed dome. With work commencing in 1886, this imposing and rare surviving masterpiece of the... More

We had our wedding reception at Customs House in June 2012 and the service was impeccable. Everything from dealing with our wedding coordinator (Rebecca) right through to the attention to detail by the staff on the night. Everything ran so smoothly and played out exactly how I had it in my mind. Not a thing was out of place!
