This cafe was very busy (Sunday) and we did have to wait a while for the muffins to be heated and served. However the wait was worth it. We had the lemon and yoghurt muffins and it was so light and fluffy. really good!!

Lots of great little "exhibitions" / "specialist sections" including history and indigenous interests, but other than swarming with students, a somewhat underutilised local resource. Take the time and visit - it is worth it if you have any interest in history, literature or indigenous affairs.

I loved my time at the library, it was easy to register for people wanting to use the place regularly, free computers, nice cafe downstairs and very close to a lot of things. Nice hours of operation too.

Make sure you check out the exhibitions on display as well as the thing you would expect. This is a great central site with great food and amenities. Highly recommend you spend some time here.

Thank you for your feedback and I am glad you enjoyed your visit to State Library. Our current exhibition is "Hot Modernism" and unearths the stories of Queensland's mid-century architecture and will be in our Gallery until 12th October 2014. More

Many records of early history of Brisbane, Wonderful collection of atlases some ancient. Collection of reference books. Sun free movies. Free WI Fi use of computers. Quiet places to sit and read or just gaze out onto the river. A childerens play area and a area set aside for the history of the First Nation People.

There isn't a single purpose on why you should visit the State Library. Apart from being a nicely decorated library to read rare books in their collection or new magazines, you can also take advantage of their free super-fast WiFi to update your apps or check your emails :)

In addition to the building itself, there was a great display that was free to see. The coffee shop was also tally good for a break during the day. The staff at the information were a huge help when it came to printing off documents. Backpackers can use the library for the internet or wifi. After library hours, the wifi... More

The State Library will challenge everything you believe about library experiences if you are thinking stuffy, quiet, boring. Set in the superb cultural centre complex (with the Gallery of Modern Art - GOMA; Qld Art Gallery; Performing Arts Centre ++), the State Library is a pulsing, live and colourful space for adults, hip young folk and children. Always something to... More

The State Library of Queensland has some very interesting holdings. The John Oxley Library within the complex with the historic photos and documents was the section in which I was most interested. Staff members were most helpful in directing me to the correct area to find the information I need.

With my Chinese colleague I was invited to view some of the collection of artists books that the Library have in their collection. It was a memorable visit, sparking of interesting debate.
