Whenever in Brisbane I always visit the library to check out the shop and the kids play area. So innovative and colourful. The cafe has improved too.

I love the outlook onto the river, it's a beautiful place to come to whether it's for research or just a quiet read while enjoying the campus-like surrounds.

Just incredibly amazing, if you like to spend time learning about Australia in a fun environment. It's a part of the cultural precinct and is worth visiting - something for everyone in the family. Within walking distance of amazing art gallery, museum, performing arts center, parks and river!

The library has some great exhibits (we saw Hot Modernism - Qld Architecture). Actually down in the library area (yes, real books) is a great space too. Definitely worth a few hours and a great café on site to top it off.

Thank you for your review and I am glad you enjoyed your visit to State Library. Our exhibition "Hot Modernism - Building modern Queensland 1945-75" has been very popular and will be on display in the SLQ Gallery on Level 2 until12 October 2014. More

We visited for Rhyme Time on a Thursday morning and were very impressed! After a time of singing songs there was time for free play including craft followed by more singing. A great outing for our toddler.

Facilities are excellent, architecture brilliant and it is very accessible. Items are categorized accordingly, and I especially love the spaces to unwind.

A tad underutilized this a terrific place to spend some time. There are always interesting talks , little exhibitions , good bookshop and a cafe to eat and drink in with family and friends or just on your own. Whatever your interest you will find something for you and time will disappear before you even realize. Come and have a... More

Great asset to Brisbane. I searched some history and found the resources along with staff most helpful.

This cafe was very busy (Sunday) and we did have to wait a while for the muffins to be heated and served. However the wait was worth it. We had the lemon and yoghurt muffins and it was so light and fluffy. really good!!

Lots of great little "exhibitions" / "specialist sections" including history and indigenous interests, but other than swarming with students, a somewhat underutilised local resource. Take the time and visit - it is worth it if you have any interest in history, literature or indigenous affairs.
