You know I'm glad Library's are still around. This library sets a standard, and it's a high one. It's in a great location, with something for everyone. On top of that the cafe and gift shop are a wonderful addition. Take in a coffee, relax and maybe pick yourself a unique little handmade something.

State Library is part of Brisbane's iconic and legendary Southbank Cultural precinct. I do not go there to use the library but to view various interesting and varied exhibitions such as Queensland book binding group, and our artist William Robinson. while there, I always have a meal at the good value cafe in the courtyard and buy something at the... The state Library serves a lot of perposes but while living in Brisbane for a while as a backpacker, it served as an office to me. Heaps of free spots with plugin points and free wifi that sometimes works pretty fast. Friendly staff and affordable printing costs. Perfect spot to set up your digital office for a while

I really enjoyed the Distant Lines display at the State Library. I was there for about 2.5 hours and was amazed by the depth of the display. Far too much for one day so I will be going back again. This is a must do for residents and visitors to Brisbane. So much to see for free. Get there well... More

If you want to get away from the city without walking too far the Museum precinct is a good option. There is nice outlook over the river and back to the city and lots of nice places to sit back and relax. They often have interesting exhibits at the State Library which are not widely publicised. The book shop is... More

The State library has an amazing number of services that most people wouldn't dream of. Look at their website. Masses of computers free to use, a film unit, performing areas - usable for music or any other type of artistic performance, activities for many varied groups - a cafe!! and of course books, documents - and I found the staff... I went to the free exhibit Distant Lines Queensland voices of the First World War. Distant Lines connected people with intimate , and untold stories of Queenslanders as they commemorated 100 years since the first World War. You can see letters to family members, and a postcard to a loved one on display.
