Description: Museum of Brisbane is located on Level 3 of the newly restored Brisbane...
Museum of Brisbane is located on Level 3 of the newly restored Brisbane City Hall. Our story is Brisbane's story - the lives of those who lived here, the events that have shaped our history and the places that we hold dear. As a museum dedicated to the city, we celebrate the people, places and stories of Brisbane. Museum of Brisbane presents these stories through an innovative mix of social history and visual arts. Every exhibition is an opportunity to discover more about ourselves and our city. Our carefully curated events, workshops and tours are designed to help you delve even deeper. We are a space where stories unfold - a place for meaningful dialogue; enjoyable, entertaining experiences; and a place to explore and share in the identity of Brisbane. While the Museum's story is only 10 years old, we are the narrators of a story far older: Brisbane's story.

This is the place to go for a brief overview of Brisbane's history. It also has temporary exhibits and you can get a free tour up the clock tower for a bit more history and some views over Brisbane. It's located in the beautiful City Hall, which you can also tour, or just go up the stairs to look inside... More

We went as a family with young children. Something for every one and many delights for all ages. Many interesting things to see and experience. No grumbles from the young

The renovation of the Brisbane City Hall is a stunning success and the Museum that used to be a dingy closed space is attune to Cinderella - what a delightful space. Don't think you are visiting an international gallery, but you are sharing the intimate life of we Brisbane-ites and our history on the river. As a bonus the Costumes... More

A great museum showcasing the story of Brisbane. Whilst I was there a number of young schoolchildren were being introduced to Brisbane's history, which I found very informative and interesting. Photography is outstanding. The current (April 2015) Showcase Exhibition is that of costumes from "the Golden Age of Hollywood" which I also found interesting. Entrance is free and afterwards a... I purposely went to see the display of Hollywood costumes from a private collection. It was amazing. The display was much larger than I thought it would be, The old film clips with those costumes in them added greatly to the whole experience. Very well set out, with excellent written commentary as well. The whole museum section of Brisbane City... More

Dont expect anything major here as far as museums go. It is a small offering compared to other cities but does have some interesting things to look at.

One of the best museums I have visited. The story of Brisbane is well presented photographically and in text, The Golden Age Of Holywood exhibition is fantastic and the display of Alfred Elliot's photographs from 1890 to 1940 is excellent. And it is free! Don't miss this if you are in Brisbane.

Free and fun - The costume collection was fun with movie clips of the stars wearing the costumes. Finishes mid-May. Include a tour of City Hall. Very interesting.

Thanks for visiting cme6. Great to hear you saw Costumes from the Golden Age of Hollywood. It is an exhibition developed by the Museum and not touring at this stage, so possibly the only chance to see it. Hope you can visit us again soon. More

Bus stop right outside the Museum and its free to walk around the general areas. Exhibits very well presented and if you need light refreshment, there is a cafe within the complex. Allow 3-4 hours to enjoy seeing everything. Well worth a visit.

I had 20 minutes spare time yesterday while I was in the city so decided to revisit MOB. I hadn't been since the city hall renovation. It is still filled with very brisbane centric exhibitions. It's worth a look. Give it an hr at least.
