Museum of Brisbane is located on Level 3 of the newly restored Brisbane...

Museum of Brisbane is located on Level 3 of the newly restored Brisbane City Hall. Our story is Brisbane's story - the lives of those who lived here, the events that have shaped our history and the places that we hold dear.

As a museum dedicated to the city, we celebrate the people, places and stories of Brisbane. Museum of Brisbane presents these stories through an innovative mix of social history and visual arts. Every exhibition is an opportunity to discover more about ourselves and our city. Our carefully curated events, workshops and tours are designed to help you delve even deeper.

We are a space where stories unfold - a place for meaningful dialogue; enjoyable, entertaining experiences; and a place to explore and share in the identity of Brisbane. While the Museum's story is only 10 years old, we are the narrators of a story far older: Brisbane's story.

Very nice (free) museum. Natural history of Queensland (primarily). Excellent "Discovery Center" with all sorts of mounted animals and specimens in drawers. Other exhibits you won't likely see elsewhere. Great rainy day activity, but not the #1 item on my TODO list.

We have been to two exhibitions and done the tour of the clock tower. What a hidden gem our City Hall is.

Don't miss visiting the clock tower using the cage lift. Get your free ticket at the desk as you go in as numbers are limited and you may have to wait. There's a good view of the city from there. The attendant gave really interesting information. The visit gave a really good insight into the development of Brisbane.

We were pleasantly surprised by this small museum of the story of Brisbane. It is located on the 3rd floor of the City Hall. There were two beautiful photography exhibitions, an exhibition on the history of Brisbane and it includes a visit to the clock tower with an old elevator and a glance to the clock mechanisms. Beautiful views from... More

work colleague took a couple of us across for a quick look at one of the exhibitions where the subject was the right way up but there was also inverted city skylines, very neat and intersting.

A hidden gem, You have to go!! Good for all ages not just for kids and great for locals and tourists alike. The store has quality Brisbane items. History and more depending on what they are exhibiting. The clock tour takes you up to the very top via an old fashioned lift with the last level by narrow stairs -... More

I have successfully brought Year 5 classes to visit the Museum of History for the past three years. It has helped to bring the curriculum to life and reinforce the various eras of our city. The staff have been excellent to liaise with before and during our visits. Many children then revisit with their families because they have been so... More
