Brisbane sports a beautiful Gothic cathedral, only completed in the past ten years. The stained glass windows and chapels give a sense of scale while this is still very much a working church. For nature lovers there is a beatuiful baobab in the carpark as well.

A very grand Anglican Cathedral in Brisbane. The design is Gothic Revival style, commenced in 1906. It is an impressive cathedral by Australian standards. We saw the Chamber Philharmonia Cologne Orchestra there last night who preformed Vivaldi's Four Seasons (along with other Mozart and Bach pieces). The acoustics for the classical concert are fantastic. It was a a very impressive... More

Mottled exterior design with some lovely carved sculptures prominent at the entrance, makes for a welcoming building. The inside is just as nice with beautiful stained glass windows and wooden carvings near the marble altar. A lovely sight to see.

My wife and I visited the cathedral in the morning of Wednesday 17th June 2015. Julian, an enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteer, guided us through the cathedral and pointed out and explained the significant architectural aspects of the building, its history, the furnishings and the displays. This is a very good example of a neo-Gothic cathedral incorporating French and English revival... More

St John's is a towering cathedral that was just a few minutes walk form my hotel. Very beautiful stained glass windows which were very unique from many I have seen in other locations. A nice site to visit if you are nearby.

Not often you see the Anglicans out do the Catholics. They do in Brisbane. First of all they have the higher ground, secondly this one out does the other in size and beauty. I know it isn't a competition but is worthy of a look.

I noticed this huge cathedral during my walk along Ann Street when I was looking for a catholic church in Brisbane. The lady who warmly greeted me gave me a brochure about the Cathedral. She explained that it is an Anglican Cathedral built in 3 stages; made of sandstone from areas near Brisbane. This Cathedral reminded me of huge, beautiful... More

Such a fascinating cathedral - A lot of facts about the church. It was built in 2009, some of the carvings were designed by school girls. The hallway and stained glass window is such a beauty. A lot of photographer's shot to be taken. I love the hallway

Such a fascinating cathedral - it was built in three stages and only just finished in 2009. There are tons of neat little facts about the church, such as some of the carvings being designed by schoolgirls. They have some fantastic stained glass windows as well - it's definitely worth a visit. The woman manning the "information desk" (if you... More

I attended a most beautiful concert at St. John's Anglican Cathedral in Brisbane last week. It was held over 2 nights. I would recommend it to others, and believe it is an annual event. Worth making a note of it and making a point of attending in December 2015. Lighting in the Cathedral was breath taking, and the voices of... More
