Lots to do and see. Museums and eateries, we happened to be there for the yearly Regional Flavours at South Bank festival. there was a great friendly family atmosphere all along the waterfront with leather chesterfield sofas to sit on and enjoy live music with great food. The Maritime museum looks deceptive you think it is only small but you... More

I absolutely love this area of Brisbane, so relaxed, great for kids too with a great play ground and very safe shallow pool area. Lots of really lovely restaurants close by.

It can get really crowded on weekends, but is a very nice place to walk around and have a coffee, or just seat and real in the parks or the artificial beach.

This is the "entertainment" side of the Brisbane River close to the CBD. Urban planning worked here. They kept the heavy development and busiest roads on the other side of the river. If you are staying in the CBD area, there is a foot bridge you can take over to the South Bank Parklands. There are wide, meandering paths, which... More

I was living in Australia for 8 months and I'm proud to say that Brisbane was my favourite city! I always nickname it the 'City of Love' because it's where I developed my relationship with my girlfriend of 2 years! (And counting) But in fact, the main reason why this city is my favourite in Australia is because it boasts... More

Our first visit to Brisbane and we were directed to South Bank. There was a French festival on the day of our visit which was crowded but we preferred the regular attraction. The big wheel was cheap, fun and views were great. The sunday market was interesting, obviously tourist aimed but ok. Our six year old enjoyed the beach area... More

This was the best thing to come out of the Brisbane Expo from the 1980's. You can walk around and take in the lovely atmosphere of the Parklands. Even in the winter months it is a lovely walk around. There are markets on the weekends as well

I loved the beach and pool, even though it was all man made. Restaurants around the area are good, or just grab an ice cream. Sometimes there is free exercise or yoga offered, or you can visit an Art Gallery, or the Maritime Museum.

South Bank is settled along the river with plenty of benches and heaps of cafés and restaurants. I was so surprised to see that they even have free swimming pools and (man made) beaches for the public. It's a great spot to go for a run as well!
