Newstead House is an historic home on a bend of the Brisbane River. It has an interesting story of the various families who have lived there. It is furnished with beautiful antiques from the early settlement days of Brisbane. Why not take a picnic lunch and enjoy the extensive grounds overlooking the river. Weddings can be held in the gazebo... More

An excellent collection from life as it was in early Brisbane times. From the architecture to household items. Some very interesting pieces. The gardens are immaculate. Quite often the gardens are used as a venue for weddings. Newstead House volunteers ensure the setting to be perfect and having the homestead in the background adds to the ambiance.

We visited this attraction in the morning of 5th May 2015. The free parking along the driveway leading to the house was an added bonus. The grounds were milling with junior school-children as a school visit was on that day. However, this did not distract us or diminish our enjoyment. There were volunteers dressed up in period parlour maid costumes... More

This charming colonial timber house that reclines gracefully in a beautiful park overlooking the brisbane river and the mouth of breakfast creek. Tours of the house by volunteers are good value.

A wonderful place to spend time. The gardens are superb and the house takes you back to the early times of Brisbane. Merle and Harold two of the volunteers who take tours were wonderful and their knowledge of the history of the area was great. A few hours well spent in a bautiful area.

Always drove past Newstead House on way to/from airport so thought had to stop in and see, gardens are gorgeous and would make a terrific picnic spot. Volunteers at the house were lovely with a passion for the property & enjoyed sharing their knowledge about it's history and families who have lived there. Restoration work is well done and you... Newstead House was closed for the holidays when we visited but we were very lucky that a person was there and she showed us around the house giving us the wonderful history of the people who had lived there. The preservation of this property is fantastic and all their efforts to secure funding for the up keep is very much... More
