A nice place to just hung out by the lake, read a book or take a nap. There's also a public shower that you can use after a swim.

Late September is very hot in Darwin and this park had a large playground which was covered in shade cloth, making it nice and shady for the kids. Playground was suitable for small and bigger kids. Perfect for curing hotel-roomitis. Its right next to the Lake which looked like a good place to cool off. The Lake had hard sand... More

It's really nice here. Spend a few hours soaking up the sun on the grass and then go for a swim in the lake (yes it's safe albeit sometimes a bit dirty) Really nice scenic spot though and easy to find your own quiet spot. BBQ facilities and playground nearby too.

I would not recommend this lake for swimming. It is crocodile and stinger free, but a bit muddy on the bottom. Good for barbeque and picnic area for groups. Shaded area with tables. Bring your own picnic rug. Facilities not far away.

We normally only walk past it when going for a stroll around the point, but it has the best play ground for kids in Darwin, great BBQ areas and always full of people swimming, or paddling away with standup boards or kayaks which you can hire down there

When I lived in Darwin I loved coming out here to just sit under a tree, relax and read a book. Yeah it's not the best scenery but it tended to be less crowded here than elsewhere in the tourist season. A few people do swim in the lake though I never wanted to. Jut went back there this last... Slightly set aside from the buzz of Darwin's main attraction, Lake Alexander is a great place to get away and have a truly relaxing time. The sheer size will allow you to have your alone time even with other visitors...with a great water temperature and deep enough for some swimming. After a couple of lazy hours, we packed up and... Well, this review is a little late, as I was here 9 years ago (2005).. But thought I'd still write a review anyway..Although it might have changed since then.. Lovely location, wonderful scenery on the drive to the lake from the CDB.. Lots of lovely big houses and palm trees. You definately feel like your in a tropical place.. The... More

A bit, something or nothing. Lake Alexander its self is nothing special at all. The views from the beaches/ cliffs around the park where Lake Alexander is situated are much more deserving of ones time. Also there were a lot of shoes hanging from the telephone cable so I'm guessing, that's the place to be if your looking for a... More

The play area is great for kids, if your going to BBQ make sure you bring stuff to clean them first, the homeless use the facilities from time time, the council does clean them daily. Lots of shade and the lake is safe.
