A very good presentation by on of the top teaching instructors. This is a little stop that shows a very important service and gives insight into the problems of widely spaced families in the Outback.

Knowledgable staff, fascinating video really highlights the challenges kids and their families face to get a really good education despite Australia's vast size. Great to see my tax dollars well spent.

Very interesting presentation of the fantastic idea of reaching out to students who live too far from a school. This amazing achievement, taking education across the air to children in their home environment, is made possible thanks to the dedication of teachers and staff who work in remote mode, from this base in Alice. We visited during school holidays so... More

WE had never been aware that this type of establishment even exists. Being outside school term the centre was specially opened for our tour group. The commitment of these dedicated staffers is amazing to witness. It is such a brilliant concept .A 'must-see" on any visit to Alice Springs.

The school of the air is a very innovative idea that is being executed most successfully. I recommend that you make time for this place if you're in Alice. We got a very nice introduction, were shown a presentation and a recorded lesson since we were there during the school holidays. It's amazing to see the work the school does... More

Neat to see the school's evolution through the years. Saw it in session that day. Would have been cool to be a student. Buy a souvenir/book to support the school/students. Photos are allowed. Allow approx an hour. Do not miss.

I had never heard of this until the visit but after travelling from Adelaide to Alice Springs via the outback (not sealed roads) I can understand why this place exists. This is a must for the education of children in Australia especially those whose families work in cattle stations and road houses 1000 of KM from cities. A must to... More

We were quite surprised that the school has such a large visitor centre with a video show and guides explaning how the school works. You can even watch and listen to classes going on (and when the teacher turns the camera the students can see you watching, ... ).

A very interesting presentation was given when we arrived showing how children on the far flung cattle stations and in distant communities receive schooling. The service was originally by radio but is now conducted via satellite and computers. We were able to see a recording of a recent lesson and the participants. Definitely worth a visit.

A must see for anyone passing through Alice Springs (minimal fee). One cannot imagine the enormity of this project. The teacher sitting in front of us was delivering a lesson to Kids on cattle stations throughout the centre of Australia, I believe we were told this area was bigger than Europe! We were shown an informative main film but their... More
