Beautiful mountain climb, moderate fitness needed. Great view of Alice springs and pine gap spy station!
Its an amazing place to walk, but be warned if you don't like heights its pretty scary, I didn't make it to the top the last bit was straight up rocks and I didn't think I would make it down, so stopped there clinging to a rock. The view was spectacular from the top I was told by my braver husband!... Rode bicycle to Flynn's Grave, surprisingly strenous walk/hike ( moderate level of fitness needed), track fairly easy to follow if you allow a couple of breaks to get your bearings... the cliff at the top looks a lot harder to climb than it is and you're rewarded with 360 stunning views.. I was however, disgusted at the sight of small... More
Amazing views from the top at sunset, just allow enough time to get back down before dark! Despite the absence of signage, I found it relatively easy to navigate- just go straight when you get to the first intersection. Near the top there is a very rocky section, and yes, you can (and should) climb up this. There were a... More

We think it's important people know the following: - this walk is not at all sign posted (starts at John Flynn's grave). Follow the track although even it is not very clear. - give yourself 3 hours which will allow you rest stops and chances to... More
The view of Alice Springs from the top makes the climb worth while. Whilst not hard, it still takes a little preparation. Rock everywhere as you would expect. Take a packed lunch // dinner and stay for the sunset. You won't be disapponited.
The walk to the top of Mt Gillen is a great half day walk for people who are reasonably fit and not scared of the odd steep section with a few rocks to climb up. The 360 degree views are sensational. The track is mostly good, and you don't need walking boots but thongs would not be the go. Be... More
The hike up Mount Gillen is really worth the effort. Once at the top sit and rest at the trig beacon and enjoy the views. You usually end up meeting people . HOWEVER, be warned only the very hardy try this hike in summer it is not advisable.
It is not an easy climb, some resemblance of fitness required. Early morning ot late ofternoon but would suggest the hard part near the top be done in daylight but well worth a few hours of time.
