This is only a small compact zoo in Darling Harbour. There is a lot to Se inside and it concentrates on native Australian animals. There are both day and night displays as well as walking with butterflies and birds. The green frogs on display are quite special. I have never seen so many in one place at the same time.... More

This is a good zoo if you want to get a look at the native Australian fauna without spending a full day at a larger zoo like Taronga. You can easily see what you want to see in about 2 hours and go see something else in the city. My faves are the koalas and the kangaroos, although the kangaroos... More

We went here to have a look at some of Australia's iconic animals such as the Kangaroos, crocs, wallabies etc but it was the Koalas that myself and my wife were mostly interested in and we paid the extra to have our photo taken with them and I am not usually the type to fall for the trap but it... It's basically in the city, so very convenient. The range of animals is quite good for a smaller zoo. Good with small kids (short attention spans).

Visited the Zoo and Aquarium with the family (good 2 for 1 deals to be purchased from the ticket office). Kiddie friendly, lots to see and very centrally located.

It is not something extraordinarily, but if you have time, go there! But if you need to choose between zoo and aquarium, select the aquarium that has unique to Australia species such as a good collection of sharks and corals. One more that you need to consider if you have limited time in Sydney: to get to zoo, you have... More

A small, compact zoo that wasn't too expensive and allowed us to get face to face with all of the iconic Australian animals; the crocodile was particularly impressive! Definitely a few things that could make it better but we really enjoyed the 2.5hrs we spent there.

The cost of the tickets (be warned go early for a ticket or you are queuing for 2 hours) is reasonable and for the size of the footprint of the zoo they have packed quite a bit in but its only small you can walk through in a hour - when we bought the ticket in the morning we should... More

The zoo is mostly indoors and has a great selection of Australian animals. It's the first time I've seen a Tasmanian Devil actual moving in its enclosure. The koala experience is also great

Staying in Darling Harbour

Neighborhood Profile
Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to DJ's. Families can visit the Chinese Garden of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Australian National Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.
