A great bar

A beautiful old building on the Rocks that is one of the oldest in Sydney. It's in great condition and isn't a fake tourist trap. Quite a few beers to suit any taste from craft to... read more

Called into the Hero for a beer and wine after walking around Barangaroo. Wine at $8.50 a glass. That's ok. Schooner $8.50 !! Bit rich Pay by card - $2 surcharge !!!! Well over 10%. That's bullsh.t. No wonder it was quiet in there. All the others in the area were packed with customers.

If you like your pubs with some really cool history then you are going to have to check this place out. First of all it pretty much looks the same as it did back in the 1800s when it was built. The old sandstone walls are nothing short of awesome. Also they have this cellar where drunken patrons used to... More

Great Lunch try the lamb shanks. Best of all was the Old Time Music which is on Sat/Sun 3-6. Great group ( trio ) Valda is 87 plays cornet sax also sings what a legend has been playing at the Hero for 32 years. The atmosphere is great and the pub serves ice cold beer. If you want to visit... More

I loved the look of this old tavern with old wood floors and stone building that has stood the test of time. A nice place to have a cold one, whilst talking to locals and enjoying entertainment. We went there a few times and noticed the weekend afternoons to be the best.

A beautiful old building on the Rocks that is one of the oldest in Sydney. It's in great condition and isn't a fake tourist trap. Quite a few beers to suit any taste from craft to general. It's stripped back brick walls are old world and very welcoming. The barman was great and the service was attentive. I hope it... More

When I am in Sydney I always like to make a pilgrimage to this hotel for a beer or two, being the oldest pub in Sydney. The hotel is often quiet when we are there however we called in on ANZAC day and there were people everywhere, with an outside bar set up for the day. We had a very... More

Such a classic old pub! Often busy on weekends, there's not a lot of seating, so thus can be a downside, but not if you want to dance to some of the live music!! I was actually sad to see on my lady visit that the toilets had been renovated, yes they needed a renovation, but it could have been... More

We just finished a ghost tour at The Rocks that ended at The Rocks oldest pub. An institution so they say of the local area. We got a rum and flat coke, terrible service when we alerted the bar manager who then asked if we wanted another and charged us for the replacement drink. Isn't there an opportunity to put... More

My husband and I with business people visited this place in middle of the week. What a lovely olde worlde pub, with small rooms, good variety of beers, pleasant friendly staff, good food at reasonable price . I had heard good things about this place and our business friends had recommended it several times and it was a pleasant place... More
