When I am in Sydney I always like to make a pilgrimage to this hotel for a beer or two, being the oldest pub in Sydney. The hotel is often quiet when we are there however we called in on ANZAC day and there were people everywhere, with an outside bar set up for the day. We had a very... More

Such a classic old pub! Often busy on weekends, there's not a lot of seating, so thus can be a downside, but not if you want to dance to some of the live music!! I was actually sad to see on my lady visit that the toilets had been renovated, yes they needed a renovation, but it could have been... More

We just finished a ghost tour at The Rocks that ended at The Rocks oldest pub. An institution so they say of the local area. We got a rum and flat coke, terrible service when we alerted the bar manager who then asked if we wanted another and charged us for the replacement drink. Isn't there an opportunity to put... More

My husband and I with business people visited this place in middle of the week. What a lovely olde worlde pub, with small rooms, good variety of beers, pleasant friendly staff, good food at reasonable price . I had heard good things about this place and our business friends had recommended it several times and it was a pleasant place... More

looks cool, does its job and makes you entertained, easy access on foot from Rocks etc. Me myself go there with friends at least once a year, out of season, say - on MardiGrass day when whole world goes to Oxford street. Live music, good beer, a few foods... really nice place to become a part in Australian and Sydney... More

Somewhere in a tourist guide I read about this pub and when we encountered it by accident on a hot Sydney afternoon we were ever so happy to pay a visit. Good selection of craft beers on tap and an authentic, relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. A nice option for the fellow thirsty who'd like to spend a lazy afternoon sipping... More

We had been recommended to have night out for the live music at the Hero of Waterloo, a quaint old pub in Millers Point, just up behind The Rocks. What a night! The band was Green Jam playing a mix of Irish and contemporary music. The band has a core of regular members, with other musicians joining in according to... More

We enjoyed ourselves at this pub on Saturday night for our friends 30th. The only let down was that they stopped serving food in the bar because they were too busy... So my wife and I had to leave the group so we could go get some food as they had already eaten before it got too busy... Apart from... More

Claiming to be the oldest hotel in Australia, we went purely for beer. This public house has a micro brewery with all beer being brewed on site, sitting at the bar in this ancient lime stone building you can see the vats in the room at the back. Beers such as 3 sheets, Nelson's Blood, and Victory all had to... More
