Firstly... This is listed as a farm on Tripadvisor, it is not. It is a historic house and grounds. If you come here looking for animals you will be disappointed. Arrived here just after 2:30 on a Sunday to be told that we had missed the last tour and it would close at 3:30pm. hmm... no reduction in entry cost... More

Elizabeth Macarthur's home near the Parramatta River has been restored in a way that gives visitors an insight into early Australian colonial life (for the merchant class). You can also get an idea of how this building influenced early domestic architecture.

Despite being swamped by suburbia, Elizabeth Farm, the Experimental Farm Cottage, and Old Government House are worth the visit. This suburb was the site of the first farm established in the colony less than a... More

Unlike many museums this house you can try everything out - all the furniture has been reproduced. Very interesting house and found the staff here so enthusiastic and knowlegeable about the house and its history, you could almost hear the original residents. How these colonial houses were for show though with grand rooms at the front and, when several children,... More

It's been awhile since I've been to this property, but my visit was an enjoyable one. There was a special event put on, so the Histroric Houses Trust, which manage the property, put on a shuttle bus that ran from Parramatta station to the event. The house and gardens are really well maintained. From a history point of view it's... More

Great to experience a piece of australian history, stepping back in time with great attention to detail, enjoyed the sit down dvd which goes into full detail of the families that have lived there and to finish off a great tea house to enjoy devonshire tea.

I was made very welcome here by the staff and Jo (tour guide) showed me around. She really knew her stuff and imparted her knowledge in a fun manner. She didn't rush through the tour and could answer all my questions. they allow you to touch and sit down on the chairs there, which is nice. there is a relaxed... More
