A great place to visit to see Australia's oldest house and to learn about the history of the area. Our lovely guide was a wealth of information but unfortunately due to the heat that day took ill so we used the iPad to finish off learning about the area and how it came into existence. The house has been restored... More

Stumbled across this place and was well impressed. The fact it was made a decade after Cook et al invaded makes it even more special. Very popular with little people who for once can touch and play with everything in there. Don't forget a very generous scones and jam on way out. Made fresh every day I was told. Would... More

Elizabeth Farm has many things to recommend it. They offer guided or self guided tours. They also have an excellent map and an ipad to assist you should you do a self guided tour. We were lucky enough to have a guide [for just the two of us] then followed this using the ipad. The ipad told stories and used... More

My score is based on previous visits to this place, which is NOT actually in Sydney, but in Parramatta. However, on this occasion, with an out-of-town visitor to show it off to, I was disappointed to find that the opening hours have been severely curtailed, and it is now only possible for members of the public to visit at the... The tour guide, Jo was wonderful. Could listen to her stories of early Sydney history all day. The house itself is well preserved and an excellent job has been done with all the re-production furniture. You really get a sense on what life may have been like back in the day. A nice little bit of calm and quiet in... More

Lovely historic site. No need to pre -book, tours run on the hour until 2 pm every day during school holidays. Those last about 45min, very fun and informative for all ages (our group of 4 were 11-39yo) and included in the nominal entry fee ($17 family of 4). Lovely cafe on site and great space for kids to roam.... More

The guided tour with Jo was excellent. Coming from another state, having the correct suburb of Rose Hill in TripAdvisor would have saved me a lot of time and trouble trying to locate it. FortunateIy I persevered and found it worth the effort.

We caught the ferry from circular quay and wandered through the suburban streets trying to imagine the place before the colony started and when the Macarthurs had been there a few years. Intriguing. It was lovely to be able to touch things in the home. I was disappointed we had no guide and looking at other reviews certainly no iPads... More

Very well preserved piece of Australian heritage. Shame about some of the very ugly houses in the street and nearby Neighbourhood.

It’s worth spending an hour or more at Elizabeth Farm if in Parramatta (http://sydneylivingmuseums.com.au/elizabeth-farm). The farm holds the history of John and Elizabeth Macarthur from the 1800’s. The “museum” is different to most as it is interactive. That is you can touch items, sit on the furniture and even lay on the bed. There are no barriers or untouchable ornaments... More
