Description: When international director and closet ghoul Alfred Hitchcock visited...
When international director and closet ghoul Alfred Hitchcock visited Sydney in the sixties this was his infamous point of reference. Locals know, and tourists do not, that this is the last stop for the desperate few, it also a beautiful location for a spectacular scenic cliff top walk that begins at The Gap Park.

Easy reach via Sydney ferry from Circular Quay and the Gap was right across the park. a great view to see the cliff and the city. It could be very windy up there, so better use light jacket.

On a stormy day one can watch the sea rolling in and smashing into the rocks. Quite a few good fish have been caught from the bottom of the cliffs. There used to be a nice seafood restaurant on top of the cliff.

Even though there are bad stories about this place, it is still beautiful and still offers great views.

A magic wild area at South Head at the entrance to Sydney Harbour, close to Camp Cove and Doyles seafood restauant. It is part of my childhood playground. A natural unspoilt beauty.

It is worth the walk around this park as the views are absolutely wonderful. You can see for mile and miles across the clean, deep blue water. It is a shame that this area is marred by so many suicides. Spend a little time here and wander around the area. There is a lighthouse and other old buildings further up... More

it was an average park but standing there at the gap was very scary... so scared of heights and it was VERY high up.

Although I'm from one of the early Watsons Bay families I still love to visit the Gap Park and enjoy the walk. It has a mystique that gets to me every time.

Quite an infamous place in Sydney and I was really surprised when one day I saw on TV at the amount of people who make the jump from the Gap, such a shame as its really a beautiful stretch of coastline and you get good views from it. You can also walk around the area

So many highly publicised suicides at Sydney's favourite death venue takes from the awesome view.

There is a sense of awe when stand on the cliff top and watch the heaving sea crash onto the rocks below. You wonder why some people have been drawn to this beautiful piece of coastline with the thought of suicide rather than just admiring the raw beauty.
