Nutcote is located in a peaceful setting in Cremorne on the lower North Shore of Sydney. It is easily accessible by ferry and would be a good place to stop for a refreshment break if you were walking around this area. The tea rooms have a fairly basic menu: Devonshire teas, sandwiches, coffee, tea and some soft drinks. It is... More

Such a lovely place to go to to enjoy the view and house. The garden is utterly gorgeous, a very happy place to sit and stroll. Children were having fun exploring and playing on the grass. The tea rooms were very nice and the sandwhiches and scones as you would hope. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers who run it.... More

This is a significant spot for those who enjoy finding out more about Australia's cultural history. It's also an authentic old house on a glorious harbour-view site. So a variety of people of all ages can visit this place and find some enjoyment in it. If you don't know Gibbs' illustrations and stories for children (and grown-ups), they are worth... More

Visiting Nutcote is a lovely thing to do. It is wonderful that May Gibbs' home has been retained and kept for the public to experience the joy of visiting the home of one of Australia's special authors. May Gibbs' stories for children have been enjoyed for many years. The way she wove stories around Australia's native trees and flowers was... More

This is just such a lovely place to visit. The volunteers are so friendly and well informed - they obviously love what they do. The location of this beautiful cottage is breath-taking. I would recommend Nutcote as a lovely place to take overseas visitors.

For all those brought up on the Gumnut Babies, like me, this is a charming step back into a time of greater innocence and simplicity. To be in the house where May Gibbs lived and worked, and to learn about her life is a true inspiration. But that isn't all! There is also a cafe/tea room serving yummy sandwiches and... More

Gorgeous historic house worth a visit if only to step back in time. Beautiful grounds. Amazing view. Fascinating look into the life of an iconic Australian. Before or after the visit, you can grab a bite at the cafe near the wharf. A perfect, relaxing day out!

Gibbs was an unorthodox character who endeared "gumnut babes" to generations of Australian children by animating bush flora on the page. Her residence on the shores of Neutral Bay will have you browsing local real estate windows too - just out of curiosity.
