Even in winter, there are still a few hardy people in the clear water and at the weekend lots of families with young children building sandcastles. The Bottom of the Harbour takeaway fish and chip restaurant always seems to have a queue and the fish and chips are excellent, On the sunny afternoon we were there, we walked the short... More

Balmoral is my favourite Sydney Harbour beach because it is clean, calm and accessible. While it can get busy during the summer months it is worth the effort to swim, sunbake, snorkel and dine. Try an early morning swim across the bay with the swim club - a great way to start the day.

Balmoral is very popular with everyone. Perfect place for that family picnic, fish and chips on the beach, a summer swim or a restaurant meal. There are plenty of choices for food with a range of prices or bring your own picnic basket. There are safe swimming areas with a beautiful view across the harbour. Plenty of paid parking but... Nothing more to say, best beach ever! Has lots of character and not the tourist crowds..there is also a variety of places to eat, from the Boatshed to Bertonis. Overall very underrated and suprised at how unpopular it is during the week.

Back to my favourite beach in Sydney. Walk down the hill from Mosman towards the beach and beautiful sea view. Stroll along the waterfront and visit one of the cafés for coffee or Bathers Pavillion for lunch overlooking the sea. Suggest catching the bus back to Mosman as it's all uphill and tiring if it's a hot day!

Balmoral is a nice place to visit - if you can afford the parking. It is probably the dearest parking in Sydney. There are some pleasant walks and if you start at Georges Heights you can follow the path DOWN the hill to Balmoral beach. 2 Cars need here unless you retrace your path UPHILL. The walk along the Promenade... More

I took one of my young grandson here on Sunday. It is a safe beach which can get busy on weekends. Great views of the Heads. Well worth a visit The only downside is the profiteering by Mosman Council. Be aware that parking is $9 per hour. Yes $9, so not quite as expensive as Sydney Airport. Even in the... More
