Our group have planned seeing Sydney again for two years owing to covid. Such a nice city with so many things to do. We love going out to the mountains. Checked through the internet for a private tour option, it cost a bit more but to have the freedom of doing the tour our way, we did a nice easy hike with our guide, preferred that to just sightseeing this time. Featherdale to have time to watch the Koala bears and Kangaroos was special. Another memorable day around Sydney.

My wife and I made a last-minute decision to visit the Blue Mountains, and most tours were filled! But if you have time, be sure to book Blue Ribbon.
The mountains and the sites for viewing them were amazing. The expense of land and mountains is astounding and puts the Grand Canyon in the "a big hole" category.
The trip included the Hydro Spa Hotel, a visit to the World Cup site on the return to Sydney, and a ferry ride "home" to our hotel at Darling Beach.

Given the vast array of tours going to the Blue mountains we did not know which one. We did not want a bus with lots of others so our hotel concierge
and this Blue Ribbon sounded fine.so we called up and they fetched us the next morning at 8am sharp. The guide, Darren was most polite and we left it to him to show us. Saw the valleys, the towns. did the rides at Katoomba and some easy walks in the fiorest. Darren told us things about the nature/ Later we stopped at a Wildlife sanctauary to see all the local animals. What a spledid day, you definitely are derving of all your nice reviews. Thank you so much Mr. Darren/gave us a few good choices. We then searched TA

We had a great day visiting the Blue Mountains. It was rainy and foggy but Dave made sure we saw everything that was possible. We had a private tour with Dave which we enjoyed as he was a wealth of knowledge about the area. We had lunch at the Yellow Daisy...so nice and delicious. We came back into Sydney by way of ferry... fun to see the city and the opera house by water. This is a must do when in the Sydney area and Blue Ribbon is the company to book with!

4 of us booked a private tour with Dave while on our visit to Sydney for a wedding. We thought this tour would get a look at lots of sights and we were right. Dave picked us up at our hotel and drove us up to the Blue Mountains. Wd saw Three Sisters, took a gondola ride and a cable car ride on an old coal mine car. Very fun! We had lunch I. Katoomba at a cute deli and a coffee stop in Leura. We went to a wildlife park and ended the day taking a ferry ride back to Sydney Harbour. Dave was informative and also let us wander on our own at each tour sight. Highly recommend.

Had the most amazing day at the blue mountains, Our tour guide Dave made it even better! His knowledge of the mountains and their history is amazing! We wouldn’t have known about the places he took us in the blue mountains without him taking us there. We had the private tour and Dave made it his priority for us to have the best day and was very flexible with what we wanted to do! Highly recommend doing this tour. The views are incredible.

As my husband and I waited outside our hotel this morning for our pick up, at the designated time Blue Ribbon told us, we were confused when a van from a different tour company (Tours R Us) drove up and the driver called out our name. It turns out that this was a slow day for Blue Mountains tours, so four different tour companies pooled their reservations together to make a single group. The tour guide was good, but even he was not employed by any one of the four tour companies. He was an "independent contractor who works for all companies."

It was incredibly awkward when, at our first stop (Sydney Olympic site), the driver was finalizing payments. I saw the paper with the reservations and everyone paid something different depending on which tour company you booked with. Some paid $30 more than I did! The driver also noted, "because we are combining tour companies, put away your tour brochures because you will only see about 80% of what you think you'll see, but it's okay because you'll see 20% of what didn't expect to see."

It was a good day. But, I carefully researched which company to use for this tour and I didn't get what I paid for. The bus was old and worn (it had over 700,000 km on the odometer). I now think that all the great reviews I read on this site for this company are primarily referring to the private tour, not the standard tour.

Because of another guest who was 20 minutes late for her pick up and then later in the day 15 minutes late to come back to the bus at a stop, coupled with traffic getting out of the city, the whole day was a bit rushed. Every stop was more hurried than I would have liked. Because the day ends with a ferry ride back to Circular Quay, things like inconsiderate passengers who are late or traffic take away from what you expect to see and how long.

Overall, we enjoyed the day...but I would not necessarily recommend this tour company. I suppose it is worth asking before making a reservation with any tour company, "what will you do if there are not enough people for the tour?" If I had known that there was a chance that I would be doing the tour with a different company than the one I booked with, I am almost certain I would have opted for a different company. I research these things and in the end, that research was a waste because I didn't really get a Blue Ribbon tour.

Thank you for your review and I am pleased you "enjoyed the tour". The guide was one of Sydneys' most professional having taken these tours for various companies over 25 years. Yes it is true that ALL Sydneys' smaller tour companies do, at quiet times share the tour and there are many professional drivers in Sydney who do work as independents and drive for ALL the smaller tour companies. Each one of those is extremely experienced in their job. Also the large tour companies which operate 50 plus seater buses have their own drivers and charge, accordingly, much higher prices ,due to their higher overheads. I speak on behalf of all the small family operated tour companies such as ours, that we are able to provide a superior service and at a lower price due to the more efficient use of resources and the tours are more personal due to the small group sizes. We are all confident that when we share the tour that our standards will never be compromised . The Blue mountains tour package is very similar with all companies, we all visit the same sites plus Featherdale and River cruise, except there are a one or two variations in lookouts visited but we offer a very competitive price. We are not the most expensive tour - $175 (Luxury) nor are we the cheapest -$59 (Basic), we are mid-range at $108 and I believe we offer the best value and only employ the very best qualified drivers and guides offering a most reliable service. Your feedback is most appreciated in helping us strive to improve our service.

Based upon the very favorable reviews we read on TripAdvisor, we signed up for the full-day Blue Ribbon Blue Mountain tour. When the tour leader showed up (15 minutes late), it was a van from a different tour company. The tour was conducted by "Tours R Us," and was inferior in a number of respects versus the experience reviewers have described. The explanation was that too few people signed up for Blue Mountain tours so the tour operators decided to combine them. Unless you are sure you are really getting Blue Ribbon (and I don't know how you would do that with confidence), I would skip the tour. Blue Ribbon, it seems to me, is the responsible party here. They need to provide the same great experience to all participants, not just on days when they decide to operate.

I do not deny that the tour was on a different labeled bus, BUT, the tour content was exactly as per our website and with one of Sydneys' most professional guides and the vehicle was the same type as used by ALL the small tour companies here. The particular day was a most quiet day for all the "small" tour companies, and, on the bus. was a combination of 5 different Sydney tour companies ( all who have high Trip Adviser ratings) as we all had light loads on that day. It makes no sense for each company to each run a bus with only 2 or 3 people on it ;- so we get together and agree on the most professional guide to run the day with one bus. It was still a small group and covered all the sites and the guide put a great effort into the day. On checking with other guests they were ALL most happy with the tour.. It is common with Sydney traffic for the tour pick up to be up to 10 or 15 minutes late because the small tour company will go to the front door of each guest to provide that personal service . You say the tour was inferior but make no specifics because there was nothing missing except our name on the bus - it was actually run identical to any other day with a guide who has 25 years experience.

I made our reservation for this tour a month in advance. Per the email from Dave, I contacted Blue Mountain Tours the afternoon before our scheduled date to find out the pickup information. The lady on the phone couldn't find our reservation - asked for a reservation number but I only had an email from Dave confirming that we were booked for our chosen date. Eventually she claimed to have found it and said THEY would be there about 7:20am the next morning. However, we were apparently put on another tour (Tours R Us) without any notification from Dave, the owner of this company, or any mention of it on the phone call from the day before. They were 20 minutes late in picking us up (said he was given the wrong hotel information?). The driver was a very negative person (told us about all the fires, fire deaths, school children who died because drivers didn't slow down in school zones, deaths from skin cancer - would we like to see his skin cancers?!?, how we would would end up in the Katoomba hospital if we didn't stay well hydrated during the day, etc). Some of the other people on our tour had also made reservations with Blue Mountain tours but were moved to the Tours R Us group without any notification. Some of the stops were a total waste - all we did in Leura was make a 45 minute stop at a shopping center! The scenic rides place (which you pay extra for) was packed with people and the rides were very short. Featherdale Wildlife Park and the view at Echo Point were the only two things really worth doing on this very long boring day. Plus we missed the ferry (because the driver got back to the bus 30 minutes later than he told the group to be there at the rides place) and therefore got back to Sydney much later than scheduled. I understand there might be circumstances in which Dave might need to use another tour company on occasion - however, not even bothering to give your customers notification or an explanation is unacceptable and unprofessional. I chose this tour based on the high TA reviews which is what made this tour even more disappointing. I certainly would not recommend using Blue Mountain unless you can be certain you are actually taking the tour you booked. The Tours R Us tour did not include some of the things Blue Mountain advertised.

Thank you for writing your review . It is extremely harsh considering everyone else on the tour reports to us of their thorough enjoyment of good weather, beautiful scenery and interesting commentary from the guide. The guide has been doing the same tour for 20 years ,working with various different tour companies in Sydney. Most of the Sydney guides are inter changeable between companies, and all the reputable tour companies here only use very safe drivers who have enormous experience and are well credentialled. Your comment is ridiculous about not liking information on bushfires, skin cancer, school zone accidents and about drinking plenty of water - this is a part of all guides commentary as they are highly relevant to life living in Sydney and are just a small part of our overall interesting talk. You call the Leura village a “shopping centre” and a “waste” of time. I am sorry , but EVERYONE else on EVERY tour loves this quaint garden village and that is why it is on the itinerary of EVERY Blue mountains tour. It is an insult to the Blue mountains tourism to degrade the village . We are no different to any other tour company in Sydney where we ALL share resources at quieter times – we all share drivers and all share buses- no different to the Airline industry ,where you may have reserved with Qantas but you fly on British Airways or Emirates – but you receive the same high standard of service and transportation. No Airline or tour company will call all their passengers to say it was necessary at the last minute to change the name of the transport medium when the standard you receive is identical to that which you booked. In Sydney there are 2 Marriott Hotels , sorry there was a slight error of them being confused ,it is something that can occur and with the heavy Sydney traffic caused your pick up to be 20 minutes late. We cannot be held responsible for Scenic world being so busy and also 2 passengers were late getting back resulting in a delay. However, the driver extended the day longer and got back to Sydney later, using his own free time so that the tour was completed in full. You will find other companies will just cut back on the day and you will miss out on things. I am disappointed that you rated our tour as “poor” when the tour itinerary was completed in its entirety, you had a professional safe driver who kept you well informed ,all at a very competitive price and you had beautiful weather - only thing we did wrong was a small delay on your pick up and you are not satisfied ??
