Central station and the areas surrounding it are very busy. The local roads are busy morning noon and night!! The station itself is a large historic building on the outside, just like a traditional station in the UK. The station operates to local stations and also national lines.

The wonderful reception staff approach on arrival was outstanding. I will be staying there again. Room and hospitality was fantastic. If your travelling to Sydney CBD I recommend staying at Central Station Motel.

as a traveller with a heavy bag (23k), no wheels, I had already struggled to the main entrance. Surely now there would be at the very least the means to rent a trolley. Why is it any different for heavy luggage at train stations than it is at Airports? Not a trolley to be seen, nor a porter to hire.... More

This is a particularly sprawled out and badly signposted station. For tourists I would advise trying to avoid this place unless you're getting a Country Link or XPT train because this is the only place where they leave and you can't avoid it. The Country trains (platforms 1-6) are well organised and easy to access platforms 7-25 are a world... More

This is an historic building, but it's essentially a transit point. So don't think that it can be used for anything else. The train system is good, and it's a good system to get a train from.

While planning for a tour around the World to include Australia, we decided to finally try a trip with Rail Australia’s Indian Pacific from Sydney to Perth in Western Australia. We booked a Gold Service Cabin in mid October 2014. Arriving at Sydney’s Central Station more than two hours before the train was supposed to leave, we found very little... More

Compared to the grand rail stations of Europe and North America, there is not a lot here. A big building it is, but not the architectural master piece. It is quite busy and security is everywhere.

Central or Sydney Terminal is NSW's main terminal for intercity trains and a suburban railway hub as well as the terminus for the Dulwich Hill light rail line. It is a beautiful building with a old-world canopy roof over the waiting area. There are pedestrian tunnels and stairs everywhere, however a new navigation system has been implemented to get you... The grand old sandstone building set high above Railway Square and George Street covers the Country Trains platforms and the Concourse (big, high-ceilinged open area) and light rail. It is worth seeing. It has some good architectural and decorative features and an area dedicated to railway history. The lower area of the station accommodates trains going to suburban stations, and... More

It is a landmark of Sydney, and not a specially made tourist attraction or building. Several times I traveled through this point when catching my trains to Regional or Local Destinations. It serves the function as Train Destination or Service Interchange between one line to the other lines, or to the other modes of transportation, or in the special event,... More
