A short walk along a path from Manly brings you to Shelly Beach, one of the only westerly facing beaches in NSW. Safe bathing, calm waters, lovely beach backed by palm trees (a great place to get married .... I did!!) and a good cafe next to the beach

If you haven't snorkelled before then this is a good place to try your hand at it. Shelly is quieter than Manly and due to the natural bay the water is usually calm. We rented flippers and snorkels at a nearby shop and spent hours in the water looking at the marine fauna. Initially, snorkelling made me feel panicky (something... More

Definitely the place to go to for snorkeling if you're a beginner. Really calm water Despite the lack of parking, you can easily catch a ferry to Manly and walk over to this little beach

Great little beach reached by a scenic walk from Manly. We usually visit each time we are in Sydney. My husband and son enjoy snorkelling there as it is a marine reserve. We have special memories as my son and daughter in law were married there.

Half an hour on the ferry from Sydney, 10 min walk to Manly beach and then a pleasant 20min stroll to Shelly beach. Gently sloping, sandy, peaceful, nearby facilities and refreshments, in contrast to the busier more commercialised Manly beach. Play area for children, and good swimming and snorkelling for adults. Sheltered from prevailing wind, a veritable sun-trap.

Bring your snorkelling gear, thats what everyone does there. There are juvenile snapper and i saw some cuttle fish as well as quite a few wrasse and mullet. There is a break there to surf as well. Make sure to walk to manly from there, its well worth it.

Well worth making the trip over the bridge! Lovely little beach away from main drag of manly beach. My absolute fave place to snorkel in Sydney. Beautiful. No surf either so great for kids or those a little nervous in surf. Great bbq area at back if fancy it in summer and handy little cafe too (can also get a... More

I love going to Shelly Beach for my morning swim as it is so quiet and peaceful. The snorkling off Shelly Beach is amazing as it is so protected being the only beach that faces westward on the Eastcoast. If you walk up to the headland above you will get some amazing photo's of Manly and Shelly.

The walk from Manly to Shelly Beach is something that every visitor to Sydney should do. It is just beautiful. The swimming at both Manly and Shelley Beach is superb and the snorkeling at Shelly is wonderful. Don't miss the views from the headland east of Shelly Beach where there are great views north to Gosford and beyond. It is... More

Wonderfully location small beach , about 10 mins walk from Manly along the coastline . The bush walk is good and the waters are so calm, ideal for a lazy afternoon swim. Almost feels you are in a swimming pool !!!
