While technically an ocean beach, Shelly beach curls around and faces "the wrong way" i.e. not out to sea, so it is very flat, calm and sheltered. The stroll around from manly (a kilometre or so?) is lovely, and it's got a lovely grassy area for picnics/hanging out, and a lovely restaurant if you want to be a bit less...

..little cove close to manly beach good for swimming in calm waters as there´s virtually no waves. The walk there is also v nice & a great spot to enjoy the sunset.

A little sun trap about a 10 min.walk round the headland from MANLY main beach,nice swimming and refreshments are easy to reach straight off beach,well worth a visit

We used to visit Shelly Beach as kids, and I loved in particular the whitewashed rock pool on the way. Made sure I took my grandchildren there on a recent trip. Oh to have the money to buy in the area!

This small beach is nice and has fewer hazards. Don't miss the cliff trail toward the back of the beach area. That is the true hidden gem!

Shelley beach is a very protected beach, so no matter what the conditions at South Steyne, North Steyne or Queenscliff (Manly Beach) you will find safe swimming at Shelley. The walk around to it is beautiful and there is a variety of marine life around the rocks, so take your snorkelling gear. A picnic on the sand makes a great...
