Sydney's (indeed, Australia's) most famous beach, Bondi lures people from around the world with its promise of sun, sand, surf and exposed skin, and all just 8km from the CBD. The average water temperature is a pleasant 21°C. If you don't like it rough, there are saltwater swimming pools at either end. You can also see Aboriginal rock engravings a... more

Bondi is one of the most well-known beaches of Australia. This is probably simply because it's one of Sydney's favourite beaches. As a local of North Queensland, I have grown up around much nicer beaches than Bondi. As someone who has travelled all over the country, I can say that there are dozens of better beaches around our country. If... more

We took the Bondi Explorer bus to get to Bondi beach, expecting it to be one of the most amazing beaches you can visit, due to its fame. Admittedly the weather wasn't great. It was cold, windy and the beach was empty. But to be honest I've visited a lot of beaches around the world and this didn't really do... more

We visited on 02-Jan-09 and there was trash in the water and a pantiliner in the sand next to us. It was crowded, dirty, disgusting and a waste of time. I had expected more of a beach in Australia, but found myself thinking how much NICER the New Jersey beaches are!!! It was so frustrating to travel so far, spend... more

I just recently stayed at Bondi beach in Sydney, AU. It was a great experience. The beach is the safest place to swim I am told by the locals. There are a lot of great places to eat around the area. You can have everything from fish and chips to Turkish and Israeli cuisine. I stayed at the Bondi apartments... more

Want a NICE beach and a bit of peace? Take an extra 15 minutes to head further south to Marboubra beach. As big and beatuiful as Bondi, but literally less than 1 tenth of the crowd. Beautiful spot and good surf. Easy to park and public transport (buses) also. more

Bondi is a really touristy beach - but then again most of Sydney is touristy. It's worth visiting just to walk along the beach, enjoy the views and take a few photos. I went during the winter so it was a bit cold and it did rain for a bit when I was there so I would recommend only really... more

Bondi Beach as a beach is amazing. The crystal clear water, moderate surf, beautiful views down the coast, and the clean white sand which stretches for over a kilometer make this beach one of the best in Sydney. However, as a locality, bondi is an absolute disgrace. To get to the beach requires taking a train to Bondi Junction, then... more

Get there from Circular Quay (pronounced "key") on bus 333. Buy ticket in advance as can't pay on the bus. Bondi is wide, sandy beach. Crowded with sunbathers, surfers, lots of backpackers. Lots of tourist shops along the ocean front street. Many cafes all serving the same 'fish and chips' type food. Went to the Iceberg Cafe at the south... more

I am not a fan of Bondi. I was utterly disappointed on my first visit as a tourist, and it has not improved since. In fact it makes me cringe! The beach is far from spectacular. There are many many better beaches either up or down the coast. There are a LOT of backpackers. It is way worse than Manly,... more
