I Always wondered what the big deal was when seeing the opera house on the tele, but once you get there and stand underneath the sails of this iconic building you really understand. Take the guided tour, which gets you into some venues you can't normally see just on a walk up, plus you get to learn some detailed trivia... More

Many thousand percent over budget, years late and when they were finished it could not properly house any operas. I liked that the bathroom sinks were just sloped slabs without any real sides. I also note any place that seems like a shrine because of all the people just gathered around it.

I never understood the fascination of people with this building until I went to Sydney again for the Easter holiday. They say third times a charm, well I was charmed for sure after setting my sights on the opera house for my 3rd visit. Beautifully sitting there in the harbour demanding attention from everyone.

One of the first sights visible upon alighting at Circular Quay Station, don't pull out the camera just yet! Upon alighting, turn left to First Fleet Park, then North parallel to George St. past the Museum of Contemporary Art and up to Quay (the resto) for the perfect shot with the Opera House in the background!

We took the Opera House tour and loved hearing the story of the building of this Sydney icon. We had already booked opera tickets (The Magic Flute), but after seeing the orchestra performance hall, got tickets for an orchestra concert too. Because we were on the tour, we got a great discount on those tickets. The acoustics are as stunning... More

The Opera House is something you must see while in Sydney, but I also recommend seeing a play. There are different plays there every day, and if you look at the program you would find something you like. I ended up seeing the Australian ballet, and it was amazing!

This amazing building is probably known world wide. Its white sails gleam in the sunlight and look over the harbour. Inside its rather drab and looking forward to a makeover.

Of course this is an amazing piece of architecture and one of the most iconic buildings in the world. We got there on the hop on hop off bus and it was well worth a visit. We only had limited time in Sydney so we had to do everything quickly. I would avoid the souvenir shops as like everything in... More

The Sydney Opera House is a magnificent building from an architectual standpoint and an iconic symbol of Sydney. If you are in Sydney it should be on your to do list. If you have the opportunity to visit on the outside do so. I have gone to the Opera House and see a concert and a poetry slam.
