We made a visit to the Opera House during the Vivid Light Festival and took the "Celebrating Vivid Sydney" tour early in the evening. Right from entering the building I was spellbound by the amazing architecture, the beauty of the design and the views across the river with all the light boats on the water. The tour guide was very... More

We opted to do the back stage tour of the opera house. This means you have to be at the stage door entrance at 6:45 sharp. If you are late, you miss the tour. We were shown through the entire building. The set storage areas [which are VERY crammed in]. Photography in those areas was not allowed due to artistic... More

The Opera House tour was interesting. We were taken into several of the entertainment venues, although couldn't take pictures if there were people working in there! PRIVACY reasons. The history is interesting and seeing the outside close up was good. Before the tour, you get the opportunity to have a photo taken in front of a green screen. When your... More

This is a landmark and for that reason is a 'must see.' That said, there's not all that much to see, so it's a pretty easy / quick item to check off your list. While very unique, I wasn't overwhelmed by it and didn't feel I needed a lot of time there. The Opera is high quality, though, so I... More

Attended Handel's Messiah which was brilliant. Just one problem with all those steps. Mum has NH lymphoma so we asked to use elevator but as the lift only went half way and our seats were up high Mum had quite a walk. I have since written to the Opera House for advice on areas with best access but unfortunately did... More

Breathtaking is an understatement. You haven't been to Sydney if you haven't been to the Opera House

I have been in Sydney a few times and impossible not to view the Opera House from the outside, but this was my first visit inside. Interesting tour of the different performances spaces and look at the architecture and design from the inside. Great views of the harbour and city from the balconies. Not a cheap tour but worthwhile to... More

We first went on an Opera House tour. Our tour guide was delightful, entertaining, and intelligent. Every question we had (and we had a lot) was answered. At the end of the tour, he told us that because we'd gone on a tour we could get discounted opera tickets. My favorite opera, Carmen, was playing so we decided to go.... More

I had never attended an opera before (with the exception of the Beijing Opera - which was quite different) but when we decided to travel to Sydney, I thought what better time! I knew that I wanted to do more than take a tour of the opera house and so at first I just searched for 'cheap' shows. However, upon... More

You see the Sydney Opera House in every photo or movie of Sydney. It is world famous. It's a beautiful piece of architecture and a must visit even if you're in Sydney for a short time. They have great guided tours. We were fortunate enough to go to an opera, my first and I'm so glad we had the experience.... More
