The modern art was something I'm not used to - it's not just about the paintings, the sculptures were unique in the own way. Pretty interesting, but if art isn't your thing and you're the type who likes adventure, this place may not be for you.

Although I am not an art expert, I really enjoyed my visit to the art gallery. The place is clean, has free wifi, and interesting pieces of art all around. There even were a couple of Picasso pieces on display while I was there, so that was pretty cool.

Spends a Sunday afternoon in the art gallery. This is my first visit and the kids enjoy looking at all the pictures/ crafts work on display; esp. those done by high school students. Definitely worth a visit.

The exterior of the art gallery is magnificent, reminiscent of the Pantheon. I went in to see 2 pieces by Robert Peake (royal portrait artist in the 17th century) – Winter Queen and the Lost Prince. These portraits were from London’s National Portrait Gallery. I took the opportunity to have a walk around to look at other pieces and there... More

Well worth a visit for an hour or 2, organise to join one of the guided tours conducted by one of the many brilliant volunteers, they add an extra dimension to your visit with background info and interesting facts.

From the Heidelberg School to Contemporary Artists this is a wonderful current display. Lots of early colonial landscapes building to the oh - so - familiar Streetons and McCubbins. If you are an International visitor this is the best introduction to Australian Art. Hints: Try NOT to go on the weekend, go early on week days to avoid the initial... More

The Art Gallery is in some lovely grounds and we have a sunny winters day to find it. The exhibits were compelling and there was something for everyone, modern and traditional. All for free - a real jewel in Sydney's tourist treasure box.

My husband and I visited the Art Gallery on our first day in Australia. It was a nice museum but nothing special. There is a good mix of art styles and time periods. We visited the Pacific Islander exhibit and took the Australia Art tour. The tour guide was very nice but she seemed not to have the greatest grasp... More
