The is a very enjoyable art museum and with its emphasis on Australian artists it is surprising (to me at least) with the significant Australian impressionist work. Lots of interesting modern artistic works too.

Great - got there early; beat the crowds. The staff were very helpful. The exhibition was good value, I thought.

Interesting mix of paintings across several eras. Beautiful heritage building - ceilings are amazing! Great to be able to examine paintings close up . And all for free- aren't we lucky

Whilst the exhibits from Papua New Guinea and the movie filmed in the late fifties or early sixties of the people of the Highlands and the famous Mt. Hagan festival was very interesting, personally I found the gallery of aboriginal art somewhat limited. It was primarily for these two exhibits that I visited the Gallery. There were other sections, among... More

It is a long time since I visited the art gallery of NSW...not since I was a young girl in fact, so on a visit to my hometown we took the opportunity to see 2014's Archibald entries. I wasn't disappointed. The gallery is perched on the edge of the Domain in a fabulous position overlooking Woolloomooloo and Sydney Harbour and... More

they say art is the expression of emotion body soul and mind, so here at the art gallery of NSW, what's not to like?

I visited the Gallery almost every week. So many to see and most of them are free. Just a place you must visit in Sydney.

The modern art was something I'm not used to - it's not just about the paintings, the sculptures were unique in the own way. Pretty interesting, but if art isn't your thing and you're the type who likes adventure, this place may not be for you.

Although I am not an art expert, I really enjoyed my visit to the art gallery. The place is clean, has free wifi, and interesting pieces of art all around. There even were a couple of Picasso pieces on display while I was there, so that was pretty cool.
