We try to visit this wonderful gallery several times a year, usually for the special exhibitions, because we don't live in Sydney, and it gives us a good excuse to visit the "big smoke". This time it was the "Pop to Popism"- a fascinating look at some of the very different art of the 60's to 80's- Warhol, Lichtenstein etc. Brilliant!... More

I just went for an enjoyable walk around the gallery and got to see some incredible modern art some graffiti pieces and some controversial stuff too. It was the third Sunday of the month so there were Art teachers supplying pencil and paper chairs and boards and giving tips and pointers on how to sketch or improve your drawing technique... More

Make an art museum a part of every city you visit. The travelling exhibits make it well worth it. Once we discovered a post-Impressionist exhibition.

This gallery is one of the best, it boasts a beautiful building which houses some of the best permanent collection artworks I have seen. There is regularly world class exhibitions on show. If you appreciate fine art then you must include this gallery on your list of places to visit.

We visited to see the Pop to Popism show, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The "Popism" means the range is wider than one usually sees in this sort of show. Then after a delicious soda in the cafe, we toured the rest of the gallery. The general collection included two Freuds & 5 Bacons, Gormley & Moore (my UKcentric comfort zone)... More

A must for travellers or locals alike. This art gallery houses some of Australias iconic artists as well as some of the European masters. Regular changing exhibitions make for regular visits. The mix of old masters, classic, modern and sculptures along with a good selection of dining options make this an enjoyable outing that shouldnt be missed.

a great gallery as far as the galleries in Australia go. The Aboriginal art section is great. They have re done the Asian art section in a very interesting way. Also recommend going on their free tours of the collections, very informative friendly staff
