A oft-missed attraction near Canberra, Snowy Mountains is a lovely drive away from the city with great views on the way! Good facilities for renting gear and transport (buses / ski-lift) at the venue....enjoyed walking on the snow (while trying to dodge skiers!) and the warm food at the peak!

I started from Melbourne on the Hume Highway, and drove through the mountains, stopping at Tumut for the night then down through Bega to Narooma for my second night. The mountains were great driving but you had to be careful especially when its raining or foggy. Definitely fun driving !

A place to rest and relax. I spent several days there as part of the 65th anniversary of the start of this project in 1949. I worked on the Snowy Mountain's Project from 1960 till 1964, constructing the telephone communications in the construction townships. It was a great trip down memory lane. Also an opportunity to show my wife where... More

Definitely a must see place in Australia. Went in July 2015, Stayed in River side cabin Thredbo with a large group of friends. Cozy little cottage with great view of the Snowy Mountain. Not much snow when we went but the prizes of food and drinks are gold. Need to put more attractions just in case there is not much snow. I wonder why Aussies go overseas rather than spending money here in our own backyard because we charge hips and gold for most food and attraction.

This is my second time. Still lot to see, lot more things to do. Jindabyne is the best place to stay to enjoy snowy mountain. Last time I was in adamanaby which is bit quite and far.

The Information Centre is quite a striking building with some of the alpine vegetation growing outside so it fits the surrounds. Inside they had plenty of free maps, brochures for accommodation, National Parks and walking track information plus other things to do and see. The display and the souvenir area is a reasonable size. The little theatrette has a good... More

There is always a first time :) It was a long drive from Toongabie and getting there was worthwhile coz passing thru a green scenery where I was only imagining before was fantastic. Seeing the mountain range from afar triggered my excitement. We find parking a little bit far but who cares for a long walk anyway as I was... More

There were heaps of parking. The place is organised. There are areas for skiing, snow boarding, and toboggan. You have to walk 10 minutes if you want to go to toilet though.
