The hall dates back to the earliest days of Canberra, and apparently was popular for the dances held and films shown there in the 20's and 30's. It was neglected for quite a time, but has now been restored to what we assume is its former glory. There are no regular events scheduled there, but it is a venue for... More

We visited Albert Hall for a wedding on a 39degree Canberra Day. It was really nice inside (no aircon though) but was pleasantly warm with the doors and windows open Lots of room to dance and an appropriate place for a vintage themed wedding

At over 80 years old it’s easy to imagine this building being the centre of the community in its heyday. It’s built along grand lines and has apparently been refurbished recently. It certainly looked good when I was there recently. There are large side doors and windows that let in plenty of light, and a stage for a band. With... More

This magnificent old building has great memories for me. It was there that we went to balls, the Eisteddford, concerts, all sorts of exhibitions including antiques shows. And the building is beautiful, found on Commonwealth Ave, south of the bridge.

Have recently finished performing at the Canberra International Music Festival - and what a fantastic venue Albert Hall is! It was undergoing some construction work during the festival (hence only the 4/5 rating) however once that is complete I expect it will become Canberra's premier location for festivals of this kind.

Used for special events like the antique show. the building is very basic and parking is a nightmare.

This Community asset has been here for over 85 years. Recently refurbed, it's going to feature as the centre attraction for Centenary of Canberra KIck Up Your Heels Dance program in 2013

Amazing that this has been preserved Gorgeous old building with large windows and views to the lake. The subject of a communtiy protest when it was proposed to be in an ugly lakeside development. It is often open but a walk around is lovely, then visit nearby Lennox Gardens.

This beautiful building has been doomed by local government a couple of times, however the community has rallied and saved such a lovely architectural and historic building. Easily accessed by bus and can be first stopoff before venturing to other lakeside sights and activities
