The Botanic Gardens should not be struggling for funds while the Arboretum is so well supported. The ANBG have a wonderful collection of native Australian flora and because of this, fauna as well. THe rainforest walk is beautiful, the rock garden a haven for blue wrens...a lovely place to visit. And they have good concerts too in the summertime. More

The National Botanic Gardens themselves are superb, but our enjoyment was seriously marred by the appalling service in the garden cafe, Floresco's. My daughters were treated very shabbily by the manager on Mother's Day. They booked in advance, confirmed the booking, but only when they arrived were told that they had to purchase a set menu. They declined and had... More

Lovely grounds, looking forward to the opening of the revamped cafe. Look out for the water monitors wandering around in the late afternoon. More

There is a great variet of flowering plants, even in March, when a long hot, dry, summer is just coming to an end. I have visited several times and enjoy a stroll there for 2-3 hours More

I took my young daughter here for an afternoon during her Easter holidays and we enjoyed it immensly. THere's nothing hugely breathtaking or fantastic about the gardens but the walks were easy to follow, it was interesting to read about the varied plants and trees and of course everyone loves the rain forest walk with it's water spray mists and... Buses are available to get to and from the Botanic Gardens. The Rainforest Walk is beautiful and the misting on a hot day is refreshing. The wheelchair accessible path is really good and shows a wide range of plants. The gardens need more attractions for kids - a playground/playspace would be perfect and it could incorporate learning about native plants.... More

There is a loop walk which introduces you to all the Australian plants. There is even a rainforest (what a challenge in Canberra!!). I l also oved the shop which has one of the best collections f botanical books I have ever seen. However I also love the other giftsn they sell - such as mugs with Australian animals. Parking... The ANBG is well set out on the side of a hill and does a reasonable job of displaying most of the climatic zones in Australia in one place. The rainforest is a tribute to persistence! While it's free, parking isn't and while the parking "assists" in paying for the Gardens, it seems there is little funding for maintenance of... More

The gardens here are amazing and you can easily spend 3-4 hours wandering around. The bookshop is gorgeous and has tempted me out of money every time I go in. The cafe is OK - expensive and the service was on the apathetic side, but it's nice to have a place to stop for a cup of coffee and a... More
