I loved the building and the art works are fantastic. We saw the Arthur Boyd exhibition whilst we were visiting the gallery. What an icon of Australia, extraordinarily talented painter. The gallery has examples from all art eras in history. Highly recommended

We spent a couple of hours wandering around the National Art Gallery. Neither of us are particularly arty however we were happy to have a look around the Australian section. I particularly wanted to see the McCubbin's works as I have a print at home. We also wanted to see the Ned Kelly series which was very worthwhile. A trip... More

The range of permanent collection on display was excellent and the small changes each time we visit maintain our interest. The sculpture garden with the location on Lake Burley Griffin is just superb. All of this is complimented by the range of excellent exhibitions.

This gallery has many great items and well worth a slow wander through while gathering the images into your mind. If any negative is that it has changed to show a majority of native australian history rather than what is used to show which was the things used by everyday people.

We only had a couple of hours so chose to just see the exhibition. Learned so much more about a very talented man. Great set up for making it to parliament House the following day. There is clearly another day's worth of viewing to be had - bring those walking shoes and enjoy an amazing collection of art.

National Gallery is always a must; apart from the exhibits and guiding the Gallery shop is interesting and the bistro offers a good varied menu. Their coffee is excellent however right on lunchtime seating can be a problem and service can be slow. The outside eating area could be a better choice when extra busy. Parking can also be a... More

We didn't do any research on this gallery and were really pleased with what we found. The building itself is worth seeing, but the collection was fantastic, with some truly iconic pieces, displayed sympathetically. The only downside was the sensors they have on the floor by some of the pieces which is supposed to sound an alarm if you get... More

The building itself is worth a visit. The art collection displayed would honor any museum in the world.

beautiful building, beautiful landscaping and sculpture. Interesting exhibits. Close to other museums and, if you needed a culture break, just by the lake. Very good
