My favourite is the indigenous gallery, but the Indonesian exhibition is great as well, and the Ned Kelly Room is an arresting presentation (no pun intended). I was wheel chair bound when I last visited and the staff were incredibly helpful. The garden restaurant, which is set beside the casuarina forest outside the building is a wondeful place to eat.

This is a great gallery boasting a comprehensive collection of art: contemporary, indigenous, American, European and Asian. There is surely something here for all tastes. Although there are plenty of excellent works on display inside, my favourite part of the NGA is its beautiful and tranquil sculpture garden. Don't miss it.

Hard to describe the exhibits here - they range from modern art to jewellery, pottery, native artefacts, 18th century French cartoons. It's wacky but fascinating, and housed in a remarkable modern space.

Although there is art from the colonial period and contemporary art , the most impressive collection has to be the work of the inigenous artists. As soon as you enter, you are confronted by an amazing and extraordinary exhibit. the Aboriginal Memorial . This is an installation of two hundred hollow log coffins commemorating all the indigenous people who since... More

Every few years my visit to Canberra includes a look at the collection, and current shows. While the current imported show of questionable importance was of little interest to me, I once again enjoyed the collection, especially Blue Poles.

Too busy the day I visited. They simply don't stock Full Cream Milk at any time which I find very strange -- Can't serve skim to a child. Limited variety of selection. Seem to cater to a particular client

This is a heavily bias review, as I hate modern art. I cannot describe how much I detest it. And this place is full of it. I was hoping for some nice paintings of beautiful landscapes or cities. The classical kind of art. Alas no. It was to be filled with modern atrocities. One for example was simply a collection... More

We chose to take advantage of a free guided tour (approx. 1 hour) and found this a great way to get around the Gallery a make sure we didn't miss any significant works. We were then able to re-visit areas of interest after the tour. The guide was very informative and obviously passionate about the Gallery art. Even my "un-culture... More

We spent 3hours+ & mostly just saw the Australian artists. There was so much more to see & then there was the Turrel exhibition, which we didn't see, The sculpture garden was a delight - including Rodin & Henry Moore. I can recommend the NGA to anyone remotely interested in art. They may not have a huge number from any... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The outside spaces are lovely as well. The only frustration was that I use a backpack as my purse and therefore was required to check it, while those with similar sized large shoulder bags could keep theirs with them.
