Recently visited the gallery with my partner and my parents and paid to see the James turrell exhibition. Such an unreal experience and a must see, I've been raving to all my friends to see before it finishes in June! Rest of the gallery was great too, so much to see!

The NGA has done a great job in displaying James Turrell's works. The exhibition has been well coordinated laying out the different displays amongst various rooms allowing guests to take in the full lights. My two boys were sceptical at first but ended up enjoying the effect of light

The gallery doesn't really have much international works of note - really just two or three pieces. There is a large Australian collection but it is mostly mediocre examples. Any other state gallery surpasses this by a long shot.

Very interesting collection, they have great visiting exhibitions, being a member also allows entrance to the members lounge which has a great outlook over the sculpture garden.

Saw some brilliant works. Indigenous Art was outstanding. A special experience to see the real thing.

The National Gallery has an excellent collection of Australian and Indigenous Art. Members lounge on top floor (interstate memberships qualify) has good food and drink selection - cafe style. The larger general cafe on the ground floor is also good for non members.

Well, I am biased because am a member of the NGA and reside in Canberra. My wife and I visit the NGA 1-2 per year - not enough but that's life. We also enjoy their cafe upstairs for some culinary morsels. As for the exhibits, well there is something for every visual art lover. Having said this, we'd better arrange... More

An excellent collection of modern and contemporary art, as well as artifacts from Australasia and Asian. What impressed me most was their collection of modern and contemporary art.

It's a shame you have to travel so far to see our National Gallery, or wait for a collection to do a national tour. Anyhow a nice gallery and enjoyed the visit. A look at the sculputures around the back of the gallery is also worth a visit
