Had a great look around and saw all the famous artists, a fabulous collection of very old Asian art, sculpture and pieces but the highlight was the series of works by Sidney Nolan on Ned Kelly. We didn't realise there was a set telling a story and they were wonderful. Such a big place and lots to see, allow a... More

Not the worlds biggest gallery, but it has some really good , world class pieces that art buffs would enjoy seeing up close.

So we finally got to see "Blue Poles" but I have to confess to being more impressed by other exhibits, including Sydney Nolan and Albert Namatjira. You really do have to go to the National Gallery if you go to Canberra. You'll be glad you did.

I visit regularly as there are always new pieces on display and we always enjoy the sculpture garden. Pity about the coffee and food - much better at the portrait gallery across the way. Finally they now allow you to take pictures in the gallery.

My wife and I visited the national gallery in Dec and we absolutely loved it. It is a really really must see if you happen to be in canberra over the weekend. You might need more than a few hours If you want to cover everything. Definate recommend.

Attended the James Turrell exhibition which closed recently at the Gallery. Took the time to explore other sections of the Gallery and was impressed by the collection. There definitely is something for everyone. Very well curated and the docents are incredibly friendly. The gift shop is incredibly overpriced however, I guess that's what you expect from an art gallery. There... More

this experience was incredible! Every once in awhile, you get to feel super proud of something 'Australia' does and the War Memorial is so well set-up and run, that we were impressed. Educational, thought provoking and hugely informative. So happy to see so many children around (& mine came in grade 6 with school) & think everyone should make a... More
