My partner and I visited the NPG and were fortunate to hear a performance by the Canberra Grammar choir. This was a wonderful welcome to the NPG and we then spent a number of hours looking through the various galleries. A highlight was the 'death mask' of Ned Kelly.

If you wish to see the faces of Australia then this is the place to go while in the National capital. Inside its great just wondering through recognising some great Aussie icons and artist's. My favourite was the new Portrait of Princess Mary of Denmark. The portrait cafe also is great for... More

This has to be one of the most interesting Art Galleries I've ever visited. That's because I instantly recognised most of the five hundred faces in the portraits. Furthermore, I recognised them because they were famous Australians. The National Portrait Gallery is a very uplifting place and the portraits will bring a smile to your face, they are so good!... The National Portrait Gallery is an incredible building - filled with even better art! It is compact and not overwhelming in size. There is an amazing collection of art that comes in all forms! The best part is that it's absolutely free! Don't miss it!

Well set out and interesting gallery, full of paintings, photos, sculptures, and video from early days of white arrival through history to current day people from art and culture, politics, activism and other areas. Don't miss the short audio/visual of Cate Blanchett!
