A group of 4 of us managed to traverse what is in essence quite a short gorge in the greater scheme of things, and it was truly fantastic. Going down, anyway. Coming back up was another matter, but we'll get on to that later. The route down the Gorge is on the easier side of challenging. It's worth remember to... More

This trip might be tricky for you - if you don't prepare for that. You should cover your legs - long trousers is a must. You should wear trekking shoes. We thought that it would be more similar to mountain trail, but after 20 mins walk the path changed to densely covered with brushwood and mountain plants, sometimes nettle so... More

To walk in the Richtis Gorge you have 2 options: 1) stop at the top of the gorge, on the national 'highway' between Sitia and Agios Nikolaos. The entrance to the gorge is just after the village of Exo Mouliana, coming from Sitia. Some friends of mine have done the full hike from the top of the gorge, it took... More

About 3 years ago we didn't have any information about Richtis gorge. We didn't find what is its difficulty level, and only in one place it was said that it should take 3 hours to walk. We were parents + 2 girls (7 and 10 years old). It looks as adventure that I wanted to take, but I had a... More

I haven't done the full walk. We took the car down to the bridge and looking at the walk that far we didn't miss that much. The walk through the gorge (as far as we went) was stunning, so peaceful. I am not a hiker, or a walker of any great distance (yet) but did not struggle at all after... More

We started our hike near the village of Exo Mouliana. There is a parking lot approx. 1 km east of the village. From there you can walk all the way to the end where the gorge ends at the beach. The gorge itself is surprisingly green. in the beginning there are some nice gardens with pomegranate, oranges and lemon trees.... More

As we are geocachers we visited Richtis Bridge in 2012 and went in the gorge for a small walk. Taken by its beauty, we decided to come back this year for the waterfalls, we drove all the way down, sometimes a bit scary on the narrow road, but in the end very acceptable even by standard family car. The gorge... More

Drove down to the start of the Richtis Gorge by the beach. The road is really thin, hairpin bends with sheer drops so be prepared for sweaty palms!!! We walked up through fairly tropical vegetation with lots of herbs growing wild which makes for a pleasant aroma. Eventually you get to the waterfall where there is a table and benches... More

Great 20min walk to the waterfall...fantastic way to start your day...a cold but fresh swim. We (three of us) were on our own and it was just magical.

Fantastic, we drove to the bottom of the gorge to the beach which was a bit of hairy drive but then it was a fantastic half hour walk to the waterfall where we swam under the fall. A must do walk if you're in the vicinity. Eric from Sitia Bay Hotel tipped us off about this walk; great tip
