We walked this beautiful path with our 1 year old in a baby carrier. The first 5-10 mins were a bit hot &sunny but after that it was a nice, easy shaded walk for another +/- 30 mins till we reached the fall. Water was super refreshing (too cold for the little one) but the adults enjoyed it a lot.... More

We've just completed this wonderful walk, from the top to the beach and back. You don't have to park on the road, you can take the car down a little way. Drive down to a fork in the cement road and take the left road and you can drive down even further and park at the stone bridge. This will... More

Hey, if you want to do hours and hours of stony landscape - go to some other gorge and don't do the Richtis in its full length. This gorge is not one you go for hiking. It is one of the few on this rocky island that have water all year around and the pond by the waterfall is the... More

Very risky and uncomfortable path! Dangerous!!3,5 km way on the rocks....Not worth it- really... We thought that we would not come back home- we have lost the way or our way back to the car due to sings absence... Don't ever go to this place!! The so-called waterfall is very small and there is nothing unusual in it - it's... More

A group of 4 of us managed to traverse what is in essence quite a short gorge in the greater scheme of things, and it was truly fantastic. Going down, anyway. Coming back up was another matter, but we'll get on to that later. The route down the Gorge is on the easier side of challenging. It's worth remember to... More

This trip might be tricky for you - if you don't prepare for that. You should cover your legs - long trousers is a must. You should wear trekking shoes. We thought that it would be more similar to mountain trail, but after 20 mins walk the path changed to densely covered with brushwood and mountain plants, sometimes nettle so... More

To walk in the Richtis Gorge you have 2 options: 1) stop at the top of the gorge, on the national 'highway' between Sitia and Agios Nikolaos. The entrance to the gorge is just after the village of Exo Mouliana, coming from Sitia. Some friends of mine have done the full hike from the top of the gorge, it took... More

About 3 years ago we didn't have any information about Richtis gorge. We didn't find what is its difficulty level, and only in one place it was said that it should take 3 hours to walk. We were parents + 2 girls (7 and 10 years old). It looks as adventure that I wanted to take, but I had a... More

I haven't done the full walk. We took the car down to the bridge and looking at the walk that far we didn't miss that much. The walk through the gorge (as far as we went) was stunning, so peaceful. I am not a hiker, or a walker of any great distance (yet) but did not struggle at all after... More

We started our hike near the village of Exo Mouliana. There is a parking lot approx. 1 km east of the village. From there you can walk all the way to the end where the gorge ends at the beach. The gorge itself is surprisingly green. in the beginning there are some nice gardens with pomegranate, oranges and lemon trees.... More
