Easily the best place on KI to see wild koalas. Lovely quiet place to wander around and there are koalas everywhere. I think it was only $6 to get in.

We were there in October and we were alone with this beautiful little Koalas. We have seen six or seven of them and shoot a lot of nice fotos. It was an amazing afternoon. Must see on KI.

we joined the 90mins nocturnal Koala walk. The koala we saw was soooooo cute. It's wise to choose right time and right place to observe the animals on the island. during daytime, we saw nothing alive on our driving way. But here, we saw many kangaroos, and most impressed, Koala baby and Koala chases each other. Our guide is also... More

we saw them sleeping and eating plus the area helps the koalas so you are supporting them by attending and not expensive. Well worth the visit

We couldn't decide, hence we did both! It was relaxing walking amongst the trees, and having a competition to see who spotted the most koalas. My older child was clearly in the lead as she has keen eyesight and was aided by the small flags (which was there to help us). My toddler hasn't fully grasped what the flags mean,... More

Thank you for making the time to visit the sanctuary during your time on the island. We feel we are very lucky with the wildlife that we have here on the west end. We hope to see you again. More

Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is a great little place to get some lovely views of Koala, Tamar Wallabies, Kangaroos and loads of birds. The staff are all really friendly and they make a good cup of coffee. Definitely worth a visit and spending a bit of time wandering around.

Before we came we had booked the nocturnal tour for both the nights we were staying on KI. This turned out to be a great idea because it was winter, the low season, and they were only doing the tour if it had been pre-booked. We first did the walk on our own and saw 4 koalas and an echidna!!!... More

Our family had a wonderful time here. It was so fun to walk through the gum trees trying to spot the koalas. They put small flags under trees where koalas have been spotted to help you find them. It was very quiet when we were there - almost had the place to ourselves. Everyone really enjoyed this, we also saw... More

Don't know exactly what I was expecting. It is not very developed, but if you have not seen any wild kangaroos or koalas, this is the place to come. Spent about an hour walking the trails looking for koalas, saw about a dozen. The staff marks each tree that they know has a koala, but there are others in ones... More
