THOL birds sanctuary is located at a distance of about 30 kms from Ahmedabad. It's a must visit place for all those who love nature. The sanctuary opens at 5 in the morning. The best time to visit will be December - march. Winter season is the migratory season for birds and hence this is the best time to visit.... More

Been there this Sunday and the weather was amazing. It is around 28 km from Ahmedabad; the way to this spot is not bumpy and ride is amazing. The temperature was moderate. Though we missed out on sunrise there, but it was lush and so many birds around. Tranquil, green and birds and beautiful!

If one ever is at thol he should rarely miss the land of blackbucks. Yes, you heard it correctly. Ask any person about "kaliyar ni jagya(farms where the blackbucks are seen)". You can also see board or signs taking you towards. Never think you will find 2-3 bucks, because there are around 200 over there. I have got 76 in... More

Visited Thol Bird Sanctuary a few times. Last couple of visits were disappointing. Too much water hence no birds in sight. Entry fee very steep.

Thor is located outside Ahmedabad about 15 KM from the town . There is a natural lake which is full of water during monsoon This place is known for migrating birds and a delight for the bird watchers . Siberian cranes are known to visit the lake during winter .

If you are a bird watcher or with friends than you must visit this place. Though it's good all around the year but I would suggest a warm winter morning!! It's the best time when you get to see the birds Plantation which is wild is also well suited to the environment which will give you a total fun.

Tranquil lake with amazing birds. Do visit for solitude as well. You need to be quiet. Great in the winter

It's a place best visited during early winter mornings. A. Paradise for migratory birds, now turned into a sanctuary. The huge water body provides a natural place to the foreign birds that travel far. Again a photographers delight!

On 6th January , 2013 my wife and myself left Vadodara for our most favorite bird sanctuary at Thol ( not Thor ) in Mehasana district . Thol lake is a man made irrigation reservoir constructed by legendary Vadodara ruler Sir Sayajrao III Gaekwad to command 1450 ha of agriculture land . Being an irrigation tank it has a L... More

Amazing place if you are a big fan of bird watching!! Not so many attractions near by, but the place is worth visiting in the early morning or in the late evening of the winter season!
