We took the guided tour of the castle. Tour was in Dutch, but hand-outs in various languages were available. Gardens are not as extensive as some other castles we have visited, but the grounds were nice, and well-kept. Tour guide was helpful, and did speak English.

This castle is really amazing. Therefore to see the castle is necessary to pay fee to entry to gardens. This fee isn't high, but fee for parking is high enough. I can only recommend to visit this beautiful castle. In the garden is also nice labyrinth.

Very impressive castle, beautiful gardens, we planned 30-45 min visit and we stayed for more than two hours, even without entering the castle itself. Just one comment: Why charging 4 Euro for parking in an area that has no space issues ? the entrance fees are not high enough ?

This is one of the regions least known attractions. Many locals do not know this is open. Beautiful gardens and a first class tour. See how the Rothschilds lived at the turn of the 20th century. One month per year living there entertaining Royalty, stars and nobility. Attention to detail and no expense spared. This is a must see if... More

This was an unplanned side trip for us as we found a half day of time before our plane out of country. Due to the time we had, we chose not to go inside but a peek through the door leaves me to think we would not have been disappointed had we the time to take the tour. The bad:... More

This is a great visit if you are interested in castles. De Haar is probably the biggest and most famous Dutch castles. It is located close to Utrecht and it takes some half a hour from Amsterdam. The place has a huge area with very beautiful gardens, which are nice for walking during sunny days (when you are lucky to... More

Visited the castle - just because it was convenient from the place we are staying. I was of the attitude - "you've seen one castle, you've seen them all"....but this castle is very very different! Owned by the Rothschild billionaire family - you will be blown away from the kitchen, through the hall, the rooms, bathrooms - gives you a... More

This is one of the most stunning castles and even though the tour only covers about 6 rooms (a mere fraction of the castle) you will be impressed with what you see. We arrived at 2.05pm and were informed the next tour was at 3pm so we just had to wait around. There was a place to get coffee but... More

Brilliant tour......had an English audio as not fluent in Dutch....tour guide supplied audio and made sure could operate it....and she kept checking throughout tour. I really want to emphasize how exact and easy the directions to get to the Castle was.....we used public transport, train to Vleuten and bus to 'Brink' stop and walk to castle....all to easy and quick!!!... I just returned from the Country and Christmas Fair at the grounds of kasteel "De Haar". Whether it is summer or winter this place is always a fairy-tail. With the soft lights in the stands, the music in the background and the smells of various delicious foods, it is a lovely experience at the start of a long winter. But... More
