This castle is beautiful and has lots of special activities throughout the year. Unfortunately mostly for people who understand Dutch. It's a sort-of new castle so don't expect the medieval style most castles have. But the exterior and interior designed by the famous Dutch architect Pierre Cuypers, (also known for the construction and design of Amsterdam Central station) is just... More

If you are traveling by car, this is a worthwhile stop for sure. The castle is beautiful, and the kind you hope to see...big, lots of spires, surrounded by a moat, manicured gardens, etc. Less than an hour south of Amsterdam, it's not too far off the motorway (maybe 10 minutes) with signs leading the way. The Netherlands has many... More

The gardens are great, but it is a new castle of which you can only visit two bedrooms, part of the basement, one dinningroom and one reception room. It was totally rebuilt in early 1900 and features the extravagant taste of their owners. If you like the medieval athmosphere usually expected when one visits a castle, that is not the... More

The castle is beautiful the land as well but the tour is only in Dutch, if you wish to get another language you must use an audioguide which I don't mind but you still have to follow the guide that speak at the same time in Dutch which make it hard to understand the audioguide and you can't visit the... We went on a nice sunny day to this castle. Walked around the gardens for around an hour. The gardens are spread over a large area and they were very nice and relaxing. Later we took the castle tour. It showcased 10 rooms (out of the 200 rooms in the castle). But these are probably the most important and interesting... More

We took the guided tour of the castle. Tour was in Dutch, but hand-outs in various languages were available. Gardens are not as extensive as some other castles we have visited, but the grounds were nice, and well-kept. Tour guide was helpful, and did speak English.

This castle is really amazing. Therefore to see the castle is necessary to pay fee to entry to gardens. This fee isn't high, but fee for parking is high enough. I can only recommend to visit this beautiful castle. In the garden is also nice labyrinth.

Very impressive castle, beautiful gardens, we planned 30-45 min visit and we stayed for more than two hours, even without entering the castle itself. Just one comment: Why charging 4 Euro for parking in an area that has no space issues ? the entrance fees are not high enough ?

This is one of the regions least known attractions. Many locals do not know this is open. Beautiful gardens and a first class tour. See how the Rothschilds lived at the turn of the 20th century. One month per year living there entertaining Royalty, stars and nobility. Attention to detail and no expense spared. This is a must see if... More

This was an unplanned side trip for us as we found a half day of time before our plane out of country. Due to the time we had, we chose not to go inside but a peek through the door leaves me to think we would not have been disappointed had we the time to take the tour. The bad:... More
