Hidden in forest, walk start by walking through forrest around a brook on the top to square with mayan pyramids. By my opinion the nicest place, which I saw in whole Mexico in time of my visit there. Mysterious place for that old Mayas and for us too. Native people walking around us and if you close eyes you can... More

Preferably arrived at opening and hired a guide to better understand local history. Is very interesting. The price guide can be taken down, he asked for 80 USD for a group of 4 persons and in the end we paid 40 USD. More

The site is really big and you can do a half day tour but you may be cheating yourself. Tour guides range in prices. We hired a student tour guide for about 20 bucks for two hours. We were disapointed we could not access Pakal's tomb. It is closed to the public due to tourism - taking pictures with flash... More

Two of t emost importants constructions are the Temple of the Inscriptions (you can not climb this temple) and The Palace which is complex made up of several building built at different times. There are many interesting... More

Must see ruins. I had Raul take my wife and I around for an hour-tour, it was just amazing he is a wealth of information (ten years guiding tours/ speaks good English). He is there every day and approaches tour groups as they arrive. I paid $400 pesos a person for the tour-van ride down from San Cristobal de las... More

I really enjoyed Palenque which is spread out over a large area. Be prepared to walk quite a bit around the site including quite a few steps. Take lots of water as you cannot buy any in the site, although there are enterprising vendors waiting at the end with ice cold water and drinks. I would suggest going early and... More
