we had a very enjoyable experience, the white wines were light and fruity, perfect summer wines. The reds were almost as good, a bit weaker than what we are used to drinking back in the states. However, this was the only winery to offer cheese and crackers with the tastings, so we appreciated it. We were taken here by a... More

This winery came as a recommendation from locals as it was their favorite and one of ours on the trip. Appreciated that they enhance their tastings with some nibbles and enjoyed so many of their wines.

This was the most pleasant vineyard I visited while at Waiheke Island. The stuff was very friendly and the wines very good! Also they had cheese and toasts to have in between the wine tastings, which I really appreciated.

Definitely worth visiting for wine tasting. The stuff is friendly and you can feel that those people are huge wine lovers and are willing to share this love with customers:). Cheese and crackers served with wine tasting is a great idea too)

We tried to go to the vineyard next to it, but we couldn't be more lucky as we got to Obsidian! wonderful vineyard in a quiet and private surrounding. You will find great quality wine, professional and nice staff and at a great price! highly recommended!

Waiheke island is the most Mediterranean part of New Zealand. The island is a rolling gem, with lovely lush vegetation, wooded coves and some great beaches. Its very relaxed here. The bus driver dropped us off before the winery and we then went down a steepish path down to the little winery shop. The welcome was very warm and we... More

I popped up in Obsidian Vineyard a bit randomly, after a loooong day bicycling through Waiheke island. And it was such a delight ! It was just before 5pm, the Maître de Chai was still there and lead a passionate wine tasting in the outside area. That was dreamy !

Our visit to this small vinyard was really interesting and the wines were exceptional. The owner was welcoming and gave us a good insight into the winemaking and growing process. Cheese and biscuits were provided with the wine samples. We bought 2 bottles of our favourites to take home. Well worth a visit.

Do not TREK all the way from the Vineyard Hopper bus stop to this vineyard! We got there after a long walk only to be told that they were closed for a private function... Very unfriendly compared to the other vineyards on the beautiful island so I'd recommend any of the others ahead of this one. It's unfortunate because it... More

This place is in a sheltered spot, so it is a good place to visit on a very windy day! When you get there, there is no expensive restaurant or expensive tasting, but there is plenty of good wine, when you buy a bottle then the tasting is free. Very friendly staff will provide you with the history and the... More
