Before we left California we booked a cooking class at The Little Mexican Cooking School for one day during our stay at the Grand Mayan Palace. I must admit I was a little dubious before I got there but what a delight. The class consisted of maybe 10 people, the hostess/hotel owner was extremely polite and gracious. Our chef Alfonso... More

If you would like a great experience take a class at the Little Mexican Cooking School. What fun. I learned so much about peppers. I am not afraid of them anymore. The class keeps you involved the whole time. You prep, cook, eat and enjoy. Well done..

Limited to about a dozen students and efficiently organized, these classes are both fun and educational. Each class focuses on a specific region of Mexico, and the participants prepare and then eat a full meal. Good organization of good materials and good ingredients is vital for a cooking class to succeed -- and this one does! We'd register again if... More

If you are a foodie or just love Mexican food and want to learn more about it, this is a great way to spend a delightful and meaningful day. Chef Alfonso is a great teacher, passionate about his art and in love with the cuisine of his country. His English is excellent, so there is no communication problem. My two... More

Very good chef/teacher. Learned a lot about different chilies and how to make personalized salsa. Opportunity for hands on cooking. Great mid morning 'snack'. Full meal with drinks. Small and friendly group. Had come here before. Last time also learned about native fruits. Previous menu was more interesting and challenging. Price has gone up and is too high.

We are so glad you enjoyed class and our new chef! Actually the price has gone up only by a small fraction. In 2009 when we opened the school it was USD95. The Federal Government increased taxes in our state by 5% on January 1st, 2014, and currently the school costs USD128 which now includes 16% taxes. So you can... More

We were very happy to attend a cooking class...recipes from Puebla with Chef Alonso in February. The school and Casa Caribe attached are beautiful facilities and they do everything to make you feel comfortable and keep you well fed! The Chef is an expert in indigenous/pre-Hispanic cooking and is passionate about sharing the amazing diversity of the cuisines of Mexico.... More

We attended this one day school in February. There were 14 students in total. The day started off well enough with a fun lesson in identifying chile peppers and their Scoville heat units. Various members had a chance to prepare a variety of Yucatan salsa. However, when we went into the kitchen we all became little more than a chopping... More

We are very glad you enjoyed the lesson and the student participation and our wonderful chef and the delicious food. Thank you also for your suggestions however we do limit the number of students, it is much less than last year. We rarely get comments about the price of the school, unless it is students saying they would have paid... More

I loved the little town of Puerto Morelos. The location of the Cooking School was very beautiful. I might consider staying at the little bed and breakfast. The information on the website about the cooking school was somewhat misleading. The class had too many people. There wasn't enough opportunity to do the "hands on". We had a class of 15.... More

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your experience, it greatly helps us to look for ways of improvement. You may not know but we have only increased the price of the school once in the 5 years of its existence, even with our costs of living increasing all the time. We did not even change this season after... More

I always wanted to do a cooking class when I am on my travels and this time I finally took the plunge. I would have liked it to be more hands on (my favourite part was when were got into the kitchen to start prepping). I found the price to be expensive ($127 USD inc. tax). I feel it is... More
