Every town should have a bookstore like this! Great books, pleasant and helpful staff, best prices on Mexican Vanilla, nice gift selection, lots of local flavor. Every recommendation we were given was right-on! Close down the tourist office on the corner and make Alma Libre the local welcome center!

As everyone has pointed out on TA this store is a great resource for everything Yucatan related as well as a well stocked book store. We went there in search of a 'good' map (no Google map will work for my hubby while on the road) as we were planning on renting a car (for the first time in Mexico)... More

We stopped in here to pick up post cards from PoMo. The staff was helpful and gave us directions to other places in town. We did enjoy the store and the stuff for sale.

This nice book store came as a surprise with a vast selection of new and used books in mostly English with some Spanish titles too that you can buy or trade. The lady who helped us, Sandy, was very pleasant to chat with and gave us great tips for our travels around the Yucatan and Central America. She was very... More

This bookstore was mentioned in our Lonely Planet guide and as we were headed to PoMo for the day we decided to drop in. The selection of books is amazing and we were hard pushed to choose. The lady in the store on the day we visited could not have been more helpful. As we had not been to the... More

This place is not just a great book store, but it's a great resource for tips and tricks for the new and seasoned PoMo visitor. They offer great rental properties and gifts for those not looking for a mass produced wooden mask or hammock. I highly recommend stopping by here to have a look and a chat.

We visited Alma Libre around December 15, 2013 and traded a couple books for another book. The woman there was very helpful with helping us to find what we were looking for! We returned home to Canada and on January 2, 2014 we received a call from Robert, the owner of the book store. I was surprised as we had... More

Alma Libre is a MUST STOP place for all visitors that want to learn about the area from two seasoned (part-time) residents from Canada. They took a huge risk of money and time to be in a place they love - and it paid off in a pleasant way - experience it for yourself, stop by and by something.
