The photo used as the "lead" photo beside Chapala Malecon is NOT in Chapala- it is in Puerto Vallarta - The other photo of the pier IS the Chapala pier - it is a beautiful place and worth visiting - I know because I have lived here for the past 5 years! More

Spent some time here with family & kids ages 7, 9, 10 included. Alot to see. Vendors are selling all sorts of wares and I found the prices to be reasonable. Some of the items I bought in Chapala were cheaper than they were in Guadalajara, especially embroidered shirts. I am fluent in Spanish so I'm not sure if that... More

One of the most scenic spots on Lake Chapala. Worth the drive from Guadalajara (as evidenced by the traffic every weekend). Scenic and lively in a way that other malecons on the lake are not. The market is always interesting to browse. More

Chapala is full of wonderful views and amazing heritage. Lots of vendors all over with amazing handmade toys and asome handmande clothes. Visit on the weekend when all the restaurants with mariachis are open. Our kids had a blast on the malecon. More

For families, kids, teens and of course vendors. A beautiful place to spend a Sunday afternoon. There are many restaurants along the lake as well and many have live music on weekend afternoons. More

A trip to Lake Chapala should include a stroll along the Malecon ( boardwalk). The pier where you can catch a boat to Scorpion island for lunch or just take a tour along the lake in a boat to see the rich and famous houses along the lake that cannot be seen from the street due to high walls and... It's supposed to be great when it's complete, but when we were there, it was a total construction zone - loud, dirty and with no access to the beach. More

The malecon comes alive at night! It is pretty hot to walk around on that concrete during the day, but in the evening there are a variety of performing artists, plenty of vendors, good drinks, and painters with their works on display. Children are out quite late at night on the malecon too, which surprised me. There is still a... More

The construction a major disappointment as we were not aware of it until we arrived. I do not think we would have decided on traveling to PV if we would have known. Tried to make the best of the sunset anyway so we sat along the boardwalk and had a few beers on a bar patio, which wasnt too bad... More
